Anyone know if there's any possibility of a fourth extension for "Sunday in the Park"? Or any hard and fast scheduling reasons it couldn't possibly happen? I may be in NY July 9-10 and would love to see it. Another two weeks would do it!

Roundabout doesn't have anything scheduled until November, so I wouldn't be surprised if it ran until Labor Day. I think that will all be contingent on Tony nominations and wins, as well as the availability of the two leads. That being said the ad in the theater directory of the NYT states "Extended through June 29th only", so as of now that is the closing date.

The two leads' contracts run through the end of August, so their availability would not be a problem if Roundabout decides to extend through then.

Just curious, could they pull a 1776, and change theatres, and run for an openended run. Honestly, if Walter Kerr opens up like Grey Gardens did last year, Sunday could have an excellent run. Sure the leads might need to change, but a successful run might be worth it.

I agree. I would love for SITPWG to become open-ended.

Wait for the Tony nominations. The show's selling very well and I don't see any reason why they won't extend it again through Labor Day.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

What would you say would be the best seats to see SUNDAY from? Front row Orchestra? (There are some dates with front row dead center available. Is the stage high at Studio 54?) Front row Mezz? Center Orchestra around rows D-F? I saw the show once from the Rear Mezz, loved it, and I'm willing to pay the higher prices to see the show again from the ideal view.

I would think front center MIGHT be too close to appreciate the projections. I saw it from an aisle seat(closest to center)on House Right and def missed some of the stage left projections.

NOT a huge theater..but I would def aim for anything close to center.

Both leads would have to be concerned with thier work visa's...they are only granted for certain lengths of time...and I had heard earlier, that Jenna had some problems getting hers extended initially. (but that could all have been conjecture)

Any update on this? Haven't heard anything in a while, want to know whether to rush to this a few more times in the next few weeks or whether I can spread it out.

Might they wait until after the Tonys to decide? Would that be too late?

I wouldn't be surprised if they made the decision right after the Tonys. It's not uncommon for Tony night to decide a show's fate. Producers will see if tickets sales spike or not following the awards telecast, and go from there.

Here's hoping they extend again.

Oh god, the title of this thread raised my hopes in an unacceptable way.

I would kill to see this again, but I won't be back in NYC until July at the earliest.

I chose, and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken. The choosing was not.

So since there's not a snowball's chance in hell it'll win Best Revival, I guess the only hope for a surge is simply people seeing in on the broadcast and saying "Oh, that looks neat, let's go see it"?

It was at about 74% attendance last week... anyone know if that's high enough to justify an extension? In other words, is it losing money?

I certainly think it has the second best chance of winning, but alas, there are no runner up awards :).

75% seems pretty solid to me, and comperable to a lot of other long-running shows right now. But of course I'm biased.

I wouldn't count on it. The choice of a Tony Performance Number is proof enough: does the Roundabout really think 'Move On' - a song that only makes sense after seeing the show (and which I really think will be used as the Sondheim Tribute, considering its biographical nature) - will sell as many tickets as 'Sunday' - with its endless opportunities to show off the video projections along with a beautiful song?

As sad as it sounds, I think June 29th will definitely be the last performance for SUNDAY. I could be wrong, though.

I agree that "Move On" is definitely not the song that would attract the most new ticket buyers, and it lends credence to your theory (I had thought about that, too).

I don't think "Sunday" is feasible, however, because it probably isn't possible to set up the projections at Radio City. The projectors are probably calibrated for Studio 54, and even if they could be adjusted, there's only 3 hours between their performance and the Tonys. Unless they had an extra set of projectors and a lot of time, it'll probably be hard to do (not having the set to project them on could be difficult as well).

I hope they show a video montague or at least a few parts of the beginning to do the beautiful projections justice before they sing the song.

I really wish the moved the Tonys to a smaller venue. Radio City just seems too big especially when small intimate shows like Sunday perform. I would have loved to seen something done with the projections but I think it would have all been lost there especially the power of a number like Sunday

I hope it does extend again so people who haven't seen it get a chance to go.

Okay, forget about the Tonys. "Sunday" showed a very healthy 10.7% increase in sales for last week. That brings it up to 84.5% for the week, not too shabby at all. Surely it's making money at that rate, so why the heck shouldn't it extend another couple of weeks, despite its neglect at the Tonys?
