The producers of the multiple award-nominated Off-Broadway musical ADDING MACHINE announced April 24 that the lauded production will extend to Aug. 31 at the Minetta Lane Theatre.
Good reviews and nominations from the Outer Circle Awards (including Outstanding New Off Broadway Musical), Lucille Lortel Awards (including Outstanding Musical) and Drama League (for Distinguished Production of a Musical) helped prompt the extension.
The recently recorded PS Classics cast album will go on sale exclusively at the theatre and online at www.psclassics.com on May 20, two weeks ahead of the June 3 street date.
Direct from a smash world premiere by Chicago's Next Theatre Company last season (winning the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Musical), ADDING MACHINE features a score by Joshua Schmidt and a libretto by Jason Loewith and Schmidt, inspired by Elmer Rice's 1923 play, THE ADDING MACHINE. Under the direction of David Cromer, ADDING MACHINE stars Cyrilla Baer as Mrs. Zero, Joel Hatch as Mr. Zero and Amy Warren as Daisy (all reprising their acclaimed performances from the original production). The featured cast includes Joe Farrell as Shrdlu, Jeff Still as the Boss, Adinah Alexander as Mrs. Two, Niffer Clarke as Mrs. One, Roger E. DeWitt as Mr. Two and Daniel Marcus as Mr. One.
"Darkly comic and heartbreakingly beautiful, ADDING MACHINE tells the story of Mr. Zero, who after 25 years of service to his company is replaced by a mechanical adding machine," according to producers. "In a vengeful rage, he murders his boss. An eclectic score gives passionate and memorable voice to this stylish and stylized production, which follows Zero's journey to the afterlife in the Elysian Fields where he is met with one last chance for romance and redemption." ___________________________________________

This is awesome news! I loved, loved, LOVED, Adding Machine, and I really want my friend to go see it who was too sick to see it originally. Hopefully, he still has a chance.
I'm just saying. Y'know, in place of 'other shows' that aren't that well-received by the varied few -- I think ADDING MACHINE deserves to be on Broadway!
Adding Machine, as brilliant as it is, is way too weird and unconventional to make the move to Broadway. It would be acclaimed by critics, but their probably would not be an audience for it. How would you market such a show? I don't know myself, but I'm sure it would be a tough sell.
One of the non-profits could give it a limited run toward the end of a season.

This was my first off-Broadway show and I really enjoyed it. I have said it before and I will say it again, all musical fans needs to see this production.
Excellent news! Don't move it to Broadway, let it stay exactly where it is. I hope it has a long and healthy run. I'm going to try to see it again.

Agreed, I think the Minetta Lane theatre is great for this show. it just feels right there.
