Love her, she's fabulous, but definitely not stunt casting material. A. Mermaid doesn't exactly need to stunt cast right now, and B. she's definitely not well-known enough yet. A platinum-selling album and a ubiquitous single do not a celebrity make.
"Why, I make more money than... than... than Calvin Coolidge! PUT TOGETHER!" ~Lina Lamont
After looking her up (thank you, Google!), I've come to the realization that I *am* familiar with her 'hit' (and yes, I use that term loosely). I DO NOT ocnsider it so. Instread, I look at it as "grossly over-played crap that haunts the airwaves" - That's why I don't listen to the radio anymore. LoL
Getting back to the topic at hand, I can't see this happening. At all. She may have 'the hair' but that's about it. I can't "hear" her as 'Ariel' - but that's just me.
Sara was merely stating that Broadway and Disney musicals, The Little Mermaid in particular, were her first major influence. She was in no way hinting at being in the stage production of Mermaid.
If singing at home is the only necessary qualification to become a Broadway star, I am ready to play Fredrik, Henrik, AND Carl-Magnus in A Little Night Music.
Yeah, me and my friends would play the little mermaid all the time as a pretend game. We always fought over who would be Ariel. So, I guess that means we should have auditioned for the show.

I was a bit incredulous over the notion of her being stunt cast just because she mentioned playing Ariel at home, not incredulous that she liked to make believe.
Actually, the first time she performed on stage was in LSOH. Also, she's among the most amazing live performers out there as far as pop singers are concerned.SoI think she'd be fine. Also, "Love Song" doesn't give that much of a map of her voice, to really "hear" her you should really listen to "Come Round Soon", "Gravity", and "One Sweet Love".
Alas, I don't think she's Ariel either (I'd certianly go see it), but it's a possibility that somewhere down the line she could do something musicalish on television, in movies, or in theatre.
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.
