Anyone smell stunt casting?

It was on THE VIEW. I don't know if it could happen, but Sara said she grew up loving Broadway and musical theatre.

Is she honestly famous enough yet to be considered stunt casting?

Yeah, it helps to know who someone is before anyone can call it "stunt casting."

Well, as hard as it is to believe, there is music out there other than cast albums.

Sara Bareillis is actually an incredible artist with probably the number one song in the nation right now.

Love her, she's fabulous, but definitely not stunt casting material. A. Mermaid doesn't exactly need to stunt cast right now, and B. she's definitely not well-known enough yet. A platinum-selling album and a ubiquitous single do not a celebrity make.

"Love Song" is actually number 5 on the hot 100. It so far has only peaked at number 4, so no number 1 yet!

So it could be considered stunt casting, kind of, if she continues to have success on the charts.

But the idea is that for someone to be "stunt cast," they'd have to be a name that's in the realm of cultural relevance.

How does one "probably" have the number one song?

I've never heard of her, either.

YankeeFan, she is kind of in the realm of cultural relevance more so than some of the people that have been stunt cast in productions.

After looking her up (thank you, Google!), I've come to the realization that I *am* familiar with her 'hit' (and yes, I use that term loosely). I DO NOT ocnsider it so. Instread, I look at it as "grossly over-played crap that haunts the airwaves" - That's why I don't listen to the radio anymore. LoL

Getting back to the topic at hand, I can't see this happening. At all. She may have 'the hair' but that's about it. I can't "hear" her as 'Ariel' - but that's just me. re: Sara Bareillis Says She Pretended To Be Ariel At Home (not April Fool's

Sara was merely stating that Broadway and Disney musicals, The Little Mermaid in particular, were her first major influence. She was in no way hinting at being in the stage production of Mermaid.

Um...okay? Lots and lots of people pretend to be Ariel at home. Doesn't mean they're going to be cast.

Plus, does she have the right voice for the part? Can she act? Do 8 shows a week? Etc, etc.

If singing at home is the only necessary qualification to become a Broadway star, I am ready to play Fredrik, Henrik, AND Carl-Magnus in A Little Night Music.

Umm I think she was just telling a funny story, haven't we all pretended to be Ariel at some point?

And by the way, she truly is one of the best new artists I have some across and deserves all of the fame she has gotten.

Yeah, me and my friends would play the little mermaid all the time as a pretend game. We always fought over who would be Ariel. So, I guess that means we should have auditioned for the show.

I was a bit incredulous over the notion of her being stunt cast just because she mentioned playing Ariel at home, not incredulous that she liked to make believe. re: Sara Bareillis Says She Pretended To Be Ariel At Home (not April Fool's

Actually, the first time she performed on stage was in LSOH. Also, she's among the most amazing live performers out there as far as pop singers are concerned.SoI think she'd be fine. Also, "Love Song" doesn't give that much of a map of her voice, to really "hear" her you should really listen to "Come Round Soon", "Gravity", and "One Sweet Love".

Alas, I don't think she's Ariel either (I'd certianly go see it), but it's a possibility that somewhere down the line she could do something musicalish on television, in movies, or in theatre.
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.
