I'm hearing the uber sexy and muy talented Daniel Torres will be in it but not sure in which role. Anyone care to spill the beans?
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
Daniel is a sweetheart as well as an amazing performer.

I totally agree with everyone on here that Gavin Creel needs to play Jesus, but I have heard other rumors about the cast. I know that Daniel Goldstein is directing it as of right now and he directed the recent program at the Paper Mill. And from what I have heard is he is trying to get as many cast members he can from the Paper Mill cast. I just recently spoke to Kasey Marino, who is in Hairspray now and was in the Paper Mill version of Godspell and he said that as of right now every cast member has been approached about bringing it to broadway but no one has signed anything yet. So either way I would be happy if the Paper Mill cast was in it or Gavin Creel! :) Updated On: 3/16/08 at 10:21 PM
Groff was originally casted in the Paper Mill Production?? Oh that would have been so great to see him. Im sure he would definately be in the running for it!
Oops sorry, I thought it was right. The funny thing is I made sure to be careful of my spelling because I see how some people on this board are easily irked by bad spelling, which is completely understandable...
Anyways, So was Groff cast in the Paper Mill Production originally?
Godspell was already on Broadway in the 70's after it's initial/successful run Off-Broadway. I think the show totally deserves to be revived ON Broadway. And it seems like the smaller Off-Broadway type shows are doing really well. Look at Xanadu, Passing Strange, and all these Glory Days rumors which from what I understand is a 4 person musical.
Broadway doesn't mean big blockbuster musical. It should just mean quality. And if indeed these casting rumors are true then Godspell already has a lot of it.
From Seth's latest column on Playbill: "Gavin said he's planning on playing Jesus on Broadway in Godspell and he asked the audience to leave a note backstage if they're seeing the show."

Daniel Torres is a beautiful, wonderful performer and person, and if he's doing this, the production will insanely benefit from him being there.
The mp3 on his website of him singing "Beautiful City" from Monday Night, New Voices a few years ago is probably my favorite vocal performance I've heard...I could listen to him sing that on constant loop.
