before 4:35 today I would have said Rent and Jersey Boys but now it is In the Heights, hands down. (I had seen it off-broadway and in previews and it was fabulous both of those times but now that it's officially finished I can honestly say it was the best piece of theater i have seen)

I look at the complete package as the #1 criterion when looking at what's best on Broadway right now.
Overall August: Osage County has everything you want in a play. This could be a once in a lifetime experience to see this on Broadway before it mutates into something else when some big name actresses over act some very complex female characters.
For a musical I lean to the Lion King but Hairspray is sure a lot of fun and has a great score.

Well my bias says Spring Awakening as its my third favorite show of all time. I saw it last year and will be seeing it again in August. However Id say from what I have heard it would be between August Osage, South Pacific or Gypsy. My pick would be gypsy of those 3.

For an overall great theater experience I would say your best bet right now is Gypsy. It is a classic show, staring a living legend, and it is done to perfection.
