I don't know what that is, but it's not a cat.

That's an opossum. A hissing, pissed off opossum.

Apparently someone else didn't know what it was, either.

It's an opossum and I hope that is some sort of joke, because they are MEAN and DANGEROUS.

But that made me laugh so hard...

My old teacher use to have a pet Opossum. I guess that he saw that one had been hit in front of his house and he went out to clean it up and found a babby in the pouch. He raised it and it lived with them in thier house for years. Kinda random!!!

"A hissing, pissed off opossum."

Wouldn't the possum play dead? I came across one in my garbage bin once and the little guy just dropped.

That would be a healthy reaction. I'd be particularly concerned that this one might be rabied.

We have them in our yard ... evil, mean creatures scare the living daylights out of me when I come home at night.

I despise opossums, though.

I came home once when I lived in San Diego to find my cat asleep in front of my door spooning with an Opossum.......very, very weird....it was like all they needed were a couple of cigarettes for me to think they had just had sex

I once hit an opossum on my street and it lay there for two weeks before the garbage man took it. My grandmother was convinced it was just "playing 'possum," but I did not think an animal could fake death for that long.

this is kind of funny. We don't have possums here, but we had some seriously fat, bad-ass racoons.

A possum would only play dead if it were in danger. When I encountered the lil' bugger, in my initial shock I pushed the bin over and ran like the dickens. From a distance, I watched as it slowly but surely made its way out of the collapsed barrel and, once it realized it was in no danger, it too ran like the dickens.

I can't believe anyone thought that was a CAT. You kinda have to flunk "preschool see-and-say" to do that. If anything, I could see some ign'ant soul thinking it was a giant rat maybe.

...if they'd watched too many sci-fi movies.

Although, I live not far off of Sunset Blvd. myself, and we have opossums come by occasionally in our backyard out by the garage. Our indoor cats get very excited to see them from the screen door or windows.
