Did anyone else notice that Brad Renfro wasn't in the In Memoriam video? I was shocked. That is incredibly disrespectful.

I think the biggest applause of the reel went to Ingmar Bergman. That was cool.

Someone suggested that all applause should be held until after the reel is over. I feel like it's a popularity contest when everyone applauds during some people and then it's dead-silence when other people come up.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

What, Oscar night shouldn't bear any relation to a popularity contest?

Ain't. Gonna. Happen.

And what about Charles Lane? The man died at 102, was in every other movie and TV show ever made. Where's the love?

Either clap all the way through or hold until done.

And seriously, poor Brad Renfro's death has been all but an afterthought since Heath died a week later. A real shame.

Some people they showed the audience didn't even seem to recognize

Michael Kidd - dancer, choreographer

William Tuttle - make-up man throughout the golden era, mostly at MGM - 1930s thru 1980s - almost 350 films

I was surprised (and somewhat disappointed) they didn't show Deborah Kerr polka dancing with Yul Brynner. That's the image I was expecting.

The only one I noticed was missing was Robert Goulet.

Was Yvonne DeCarlo on last years reel? I can't recall, I feel like if she was I wouldn't have expected her to be on it tonight since I watched last year.

I agree that the applause should be held. It won't happen I guess but I noticed that at the BAFTAS they do that and it is more respectful. Last night there was silence for a lot of people and huge applause for a few - Heath Leger , Suzanne Pleshette and Ingmar Bergman I think got the best response.

This may be the first year you're all noticing it, but they NEVER have everyone they should in the Dead Reel.

They choose a diverse number of people who make films, NOT all actors and celebrities, and honor them. And they have a short amount of time slotted to do it, because they MUST race back to their host's lame jokes.

These are the priorities.

I didn't get that upset this year--none of my faves bit it...

I don't mind the applause--I clapped for Tuttle and Kidd--mostly for Jane Wyman though I think.

Remember, kids: Its all a popularity contest. Even in death.

Yeah, but they really have no excuse for not including Roy Scheider.

Roscoe, Scheider died on Feb 10. This year's memorial was for deaths before Feb. 1. Look for Scheider's tribute next year.
