Just read this... Lynne Spears' testimony. It's heartbreaking. I feel awful for Britney.

This has even moved Perez to feel bad for Britney. Her testimony is just so much to take in... read it.

I'm giving up Lent for Lent.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

UH, NO.

In 50 (maybe 25) no one will even remember B.......Judy Garland is timeless, and had talent........which B lacked

We don't want her.

This thread reminds me of when Anna Nicole Smith died, and some people wanted to make her out to be our generations Marilyn Monroe. honestly people...

You really ought to have your head examined.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Seriously, I would've been more likely to agree if you'd said that George Bush is this generation's Abe Lincoln.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

It's early PJ, and it's an election year. I can almost guarantee
there will be a more idiotic thread before 2009.

oh yes, i've heard this comparison before, relative to their personal lives and possible misuse by family, executives, etc. sounds like a sad life for both of 'em.

and of course britney spears is talented—one is not brought to NY by producers at a young age to perform off broadway, hired by disney to sing and act on camera at an early age, get signed to a record label, if one is not talented—people like to label others untalented if they don't like the product or style sold by record executives. i mean, if anyone could be a star in musc, paris hilton would still be making records and not dj'ing in spain. you cannot manufacture talent or star power. talent can be used and played with to create odd sounding music, but that does not mean the singer is without talent. oddly enough, some fabulous singers suffer from bad technique yet get a pass bc they sing well sometimes (adele, she often injures herself singing) are those singers untalented bc they lack skill or technique? no, of course not.

It's pretty common knowledge that her very lovely and at times powerful singing voice was destroyed by her being forced to sing in that baby voice that isn't natural to her or in her range. It raked her vocal cords constantly. She had a strong blueprint that got her noticed and got her jobs that was exploited by Jive.

When she was being considered for Sweet Charity, the producers were actually listening to her early demos. When they met with her she couldn't produce what she once had live so she never proceeded.

She's the millennial era's Jim Morrison, really: an absolute sucker punch of charisma, with notable talent but way more presence, who cast an enormous shadow over the entire era with slightly mystical, slightly trashy sex-symbol iconography, only to become increasingly hamstrung both by industry pressures and by their own mental health. Both constricted a powerful and conventional voice into an increasingly difficult to produce, strained "sex voice," which led to their diminished ability to perform live vocals. Both had famous burnouts- but Jim died and Britney lived.

If Britney hadn't made it out of her spiral, she wouldn't be a camp icon today, she'd be a patron saint like Jim is.
