Do you think this musical will play in the future once angain?
I could not go to see this musical in Broadway but I hope that will re-put soon.
It would be beautiful if Little Mermaid and Beauty and the beast were both in Broadway

Well, considering it closed in July, I doubt it's coming back very soon.

If it does come back, I really hope its someone other than Disney. Pipe dreams, I know.

I have an inkling that in a decade or two, Beauty will be back on Broadway in some way, shape, or form. It was a very successful show (my first Disney venture), and ran for 13 magical years. Disney works magic, and it'll be back. re: Beauty and the beast revival..WHEN?

And edited DVD of this show?
I`ve seen the musical in Madrid but I want to see in Broadway.
If in Madrid was spectacular, in Broadway was impresionant, no?

The Broadway production was spectacular. I saw BATB the end of June this past summer for the 1st time. I will admit, I probably would not have seen it. I tried to stay away from seeing any Disney show because the movies where the best thing for me as a child. Then they said it was closing so I had to see it. I wish I could see it again! I will never forget seeing the castle come on stage for the first time, rolling towards the front of the stage and me feeling dizzy. Then the transformation and all the lights blinding me.

I fell in love with the show. I still wont see the other shows. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie. There are only three other Disney movies I would see on Broadway if they produce them. The Hunchback of Notre Damn, Mulan, and Aladdin (maybe).

Sorry to get off topic.

Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).

I think Disney has too many other movies oops I mean ideas up its sleeve for Broadway to even think of a revival. And in comparison to Lion King and Aida, I was very disappointed with Beauty. The only memorable part for me was the transformation at the end, but I remember getting so frustrated with how all the sets would roll on, and roll off, and after a while I would get distracted from the plot and I just sort of got hypnotized by the endless rolling on and off.

If and when there is a revival, the Little Mermaid will not be around to run at the same time as it.

why, rewritemystory?
The two movies are very popular, they can be together in Broadway.
I hope Little Mermaid stay in Broadway a lot of years.

It will emma, it will.

Folks, won't all the MERMAID haters seem to 'not grasp' is the fact that the title recognition alone will carry *enough* wait. The same thing's happening with POPPINS and the same thing held BEAUTY... together for 13 years. Believe it or not, MERMAID is a VERY SOLID word-of-mouth show, and surely, if regular everyday theatregoers won't jump on the bandwagon TOURISTS most certainly will. I'm not shilling here, 'cause a) I haven't seen the production yet, but I *am* a 'fan' of the Disney musicals - for reasons I care not to go into right now, buuuut, nevertheless, I will continue to plug away!

Best,
- Mike re: Beauty and the beast revival..WHEN?

I'm not saying TLM will not run for fifteen years, who knows?
I meant that when there is a BATB Broadway revival twenty, twenty five years from now, it will most likely not be there.
It JUST closed.

I'd be willing to put money on it. Updated On: 1/19/08 at 07:24 PM

I think the shame Limelight.
Little Mermaid is a beloved animated film and it has a lot of fans.
It will be more than 5 years in Broadway.

hey, Les Mis came back after what...2 or 3 years? it could be possible that other shows might came back soon after they close.

I love B&TB, but I'm also a big believer that 10 years should be the minimum in most cases before a revival. For a show that ran more than a decade, 15-20 years would be more reasonable before people start clamoring to see it again.

Dover, I agree. Let's not rush, Disney. Let some time pass by so the show can be better reimagined.

I could see this playing a special benefit performance but lets just wait three years.Maybe it will return with a revised book and a new
set design and new orchestraitions and who knows maybe it will
be playing in a bigger theatre

Probably when disney realizes they need a good show back on broadway.I dont understand how you close a show thats making you money like beauty did. I dont grasp that whole there is not enough room on Broadway for two princesses.

I saw Mermaid. Not sure if I liked it or not. Parts of the show did make me cry but for the most part I was underwhelmed. I thought it had a very beautiful set and amazing lighting.

I think that the show will play for sometime due to word of mouth via tourists.

But, look what month we are in now. Look what month the show opend in. We don't get many tourists around these parts this time of year.

I think that had the strike not happened and the show open when it was supposed to ( in December during the heart of tourist season) then things might have been different for it.

But, keep in mind all of us could go on their own individual rant about all the things that could have been but weren't due to the strike.

In an interview before the show closed, a wardrobe dresser said this closing would be VERY temporary, for Disney wants Beauty to be the first show for young kids for a long time. With the smaller Second National & UK tour set, they could run almost anywhere.

Maybe Disney should use the same tactic as with the DVD releases, keep them on the shelves for a certain ammount of time, then put them in the "Disney vault" for 7 years and remount them. They have enough money to buy or build a couple of theaters.

I don't think Beauty should be revived for a long, long time. It's just a shame to look at a list of Broadway shows and realize how very, very, very few are original productions-not being based on a book or movie or recording groups song catalog or even being a revival.

I really want a revival of this, I think closing this show was one of Disney's biggest mistakes.

Oh, dear God.

It hasn't even been 3 years.

You would probably like "13" to revive in a couple of months, I imagine.
