Ethel Merman/Mary Martin (rivalry, not sure if there was a romance there or not)
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

The story belonged to Idina, but Kristin's role was built up because she was the more popular of the two. Major negotiations were undertaken as to the placement of their names on the advertisement.

George Hearn and Betsy Joslyn met during SWEENEY, fell in love and then did the disastrous DOLL'S LIFE.

I'm not sure if rivalry is the right word, but a pre-"Sex and the City" Evan Handler had a famous on-stage encounter with his co-star Nicol Williamson in "I Hate Hamlet" in the early 1990s. The incident occurred onstage during a performance, when Williamson yelled at Handler and nicked him with his sword (it was a sword-fight scene). Handler left the stage and quit the production in mid-performance.

I had thought ( could be wrong) that Cheno was not happy that Idina was the star of the show.

Well Idina got the last laugh regardless by winning the Tony. I love them both though.

Remember the post that one persons saw the show and when Idina went to slap Kristin, Kristin pointed to the neckbrace, but Idina slapped her anyway and they didn't look at each other through the rest of the song?

Posted: 1/17/08 at 5:41pmLadyRosecoe, Glinda slaps Elphie and she slaps her back in their exchange before "No Good Dead", at least I think that's what's being referred to with 'slapping' I think Idina couldnt turn her head as a reaction of being slapped is what Gothampc was getting at, not an actual slap.
