This show is phenominal, there is so much talent and thought put into it and it's just a wonderful NEW (yes, new, not based off of a book or movie) concept. I would HIGHLY reccomend this show.

Cages or wings? Which do you prefer? Ask the birds. Fear or love, baby? Don't say the answer Actions speak louder than words. (Tick, Tick... BOOM!)

I wish someone would give me an expenses paid trip to see it! Definitely go!
Who says four chairs and a keyboard can't make a musical?

Well, if they give you an option for another show then I'd suggest Jersey Boys, Hairspray or even A Chorus Line. At least you'll come out with worthwhile-type smile on youir face. Just my two cents.
Trish, we understand your dislike for the show. and the statement says " i won a trip to see In the Heights" so the obviously have no other choice. can u please let some people enjoy this show even if you don't? ever thread about in the heights, you have to say something against it. it no way am i trying to be mean i just wanted to let you know.

Well, he asked for honest opinions. I'm entitled to mine. I think someone would enjoy those shows as they're proven successes. But if it's a do or die situation, then sure, go see ITH.
There are numerous groups near me that always organize day trips to see shows since I am relatively close by. I saw numerous shows that way with my grandmother when I was a kid/teenager. She's not able to travel anymore, so whenever she hears of these trips she always offers to "send" me. This would be the first time I would take her up on the offer.
I just read that the show is produced by Seller.. It seems like everything he touches turns to gold....

Go see it! I cannot wait to see this, but cannot until April.
There are too many folks excited about this to pan it ahead of time.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Charles Isherwood of New York Times gave it a GOOD review and it was one of the MUST SEE shows on OFF-Broadway's List on NYTimes

Coffee, light and sweet, is the fuel that keeps a busy world in motion in the new musical 'In the Heights,' a singing mural of Latin-American life that often has the inspiriting flavor of a morning pick-me-up on a warm summer day. Light and sweet are actually just the words to describe this amiable show, which boasts an infectious, bouncy Latin-pop score by a gifted young composer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, an unfortunately underspiced book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, and a stage full of energized, energetic performers you can't take your eyes off and won't want to.

The choice may have been mistaken, The choosing was not... "Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life." - Lin-Manuel Miranda
