I know this musical started off (in 1971) as a satire of the rock era but nowadays it's just a plain joke. Granted the original wasn't a masterpiece but it was edgy, raunchy and a lot of fun...now it's just a mindless piece of fluff and this production has officially made me dislike this musical. I just cannot listen to anything from it....ditto for the film.
TIME Magazine never called it "The #1 Musical of The Year."
"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster.
"Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."
The commercial for it came on, and the voice over says it's the one that you want. Is it really the one that I want? I mean, the movie was great and all, but I don't really care to see it.
I still can't believe that this made any top lists over alot that's out there like Xanadu and Spring Awakening.
i saw it and i hated it.....max/laura are way to big on it. my mom saw grease first and then saw LB this past saturday matinee. grease is on the bottom of her list of broadway shows she has seen because she didnt like a chrous line so much and its number one on mine.
Not a grease fan eitehr, and I don't necessarily understand why Broadwayworld felt the need to post it. But just curious...is this ad located where "The Little Mermaid"'s one was and "Beauty & The Beast"'s (in the summer) where its liked attached to a big office building overlooking timesquare? Or is it where the Les Miserables revival one was..hmmm?

There two ways you could interpret "flaming". Since this IS a Broadway board... It doesn't seem quite as funny to me now. (But you know where I'm going with that, right?)

Not living in NYC I think all the Billboards look cool! Just so happens I'm also a Grease fan, so I like it even more. I realize the show is fluff, but it is so much fun to introduce that fluff to Jr. High students! Can't wait to bring them to town this summer!
