I just got back from seeing this show and I had a ball. I am too tired to right a review and need to get laid badly, so this is going to be brief. The cast was amazing and Norbert looked to be having the time of his life. He seemed to lose it near the end of the show and couldn't get his line out.
The orchestra was totally packed, although not sure how many of those tickets were discounted. I couldn't see the Mezz or Balcony.
Neil Simon was in the audience.
The audience loved the show, howling from beginning to end.
A great night in the theatre!

glad to hear you enjoyed it! I was there opening night, and thought it was a fantastic interpretation of Twain's "new" play. Such a blast for the actors, and for the audience as well! Very well done comedy!
There were 641 in the audience last night, 300 of which were there courtesy of TDF. And along with Neil Simon, Martin Henderson from "The Ring" was also in the audience. And for any of you Gilmore Girl fans (like me), Dakin Matthews (the Chancellor of the Chilton School Rory went to) was also there. I've said it before, I'm at the bar at the Lyceum if anyone ever wants to say "Hi".
I killed the boss, you don't think they're gonna fire me over a thing like that!!!!
Was there last night as well with WesternSky12 and her boyfriend. We had a ball! The show was an absolute right.
And don't you worry, I saw Headmaster Charleston go into the stagedoor to visit a friend after the show and got a picture. "I have so many teenage girls come up to me.... oh, and teenage boys, too!" He was a doll.
I'm so happy people are giving this good buzz. I've seen it more than once and it's the kind of show that grows on you with each visit. Oh and alittle TMI badadnpa.
i have a friend who works for a producer and said the show is not doing very well.... everyone is there for norbert. and that norbert is known for not being very nice to people
Great to hear that you enjoyed it! I adored it. Norbert isn't very nice? When I went he made sure he had a convo/picture and signature with almost everyone who had gathered. But then again, I heard stories about Claire Danes being great but when I saw her at the stage door, she was not nice AT ALL.
Norbert was incredibly nice to everyone when I saw Is He Dead? in late December. He even apologized for taking a while to come out (even thought it couldn't have been more than 20 minutes). He signed and took pictures with everyone who asked. I can't imagine how anyone could consider him to be unkind to his fans.
I was there last night as well and had such a great time! I'll be going back to see it again very soon. And as for Norbert "not being very nice"... completely untrue! He came out very quickly and was a doll to everyone. The mezz was completely full last night. I can't wait to go back. The cast is very humble and sweet at the stage door.
Saw the show this afternoon and it was deliciously funny, what a superb cast! John McMartin, David Pittu, Marylouise Burke, Norbert, Jenn Gambatese, Michael, McGrath- none of which I knew were in this aside from Norbert! All of them contributed an equally impressive lot to the show. Go see
The audience fluctuates so much, it's very odd. Tues and the Wed. matinee were good, and then Wed. night was less than 500. Our early days have even been better than our weekends.

I saw the show yesterday afternoon from the front row and had a wonderful time! This show reminded me that when a farce is meticulously well directed, performed, rehearsed, staged, lit, etc, any audience member can have a wonderful time.
The play itself was a joy to watch and the performers' brilliance only added to that joy.
This show has the potential to hang around, however the location of the Lyceum always is an issue.

NLB has been nothing but wonderful each and every time I've seen him at the stage door and that number is high. I don't care how "difficult" he is to work with, it seems that rumor always floats around with the brighter, bigger personalities and 9 times out of 10, it's total bs.
When I saw the show this past Sunday he was nothing but nice.
I loved the show! I can't wait to go back again!! This was the first time I had seen NLB in anything. I was mainly there to see Jenn Gambatese. The entire cast was amazing.
It is unfortunate that this show is going to fly under most people's radar. If is certainly as entertaining as other notable farces (Ritz, Noises Off, etc.)
