Having never heard the whole cd ( waiting for the order to come from amazon ) i would buy the whole cd, to me there is no point having just bits and pieces.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

If you buy the CD in bits and pieces, you're going to have a bad listening experience. The whole show flows as one piece, which is why there were no separate songs listed in the playbill for the Broadway production.
So buy the CD. It comes with the complete libretto. And the music is very, very good, one of the strongest arguments against dismissing a score simply because it is pastiche.

The show is practically an opera, there is very little dialogue. Listening to the complete recording is a very fulfilling experience, bits and pieces won't do the show justice at all.

I would encourage any musical theater fan to buy the full recording of this masterpiece! I would also recommend that when you receive it that you sit and listen to the recording all the way through. It gives you a really great sense of the show.
Happy...Everything!

Buy the full recording. It is well worth it. I have worn disc 2 out so much I have to buy the entire thing again. I tried to burn a copy for myself but burning it causes breaks and, as Bustopher mentioned, it flows as one piece on the CD.

As Noah sings on the recording " BUY BUY BUY" this is one of my absolute favorite broadway recordings. Tesori's score is brilliant and the way in which the music moves is absolutely amazing. I too was quite hesitant about purchasing the full recording and was first exposed to "Salty Teardrops". I couldn't stop listening to that song. And I just had to hear the whole thing. You will not regret purchasing the whole recording. And unless you have gift cards, your best bet is off of deepdiscount.com, the best website ever.
Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.

You must own this show. You will not listen to it every day, but you will enjoy it and be very happy that it is in your collection.
The CD often saves my sanity and enriches my spirit during long commutes to school and work.
"[Gore] was widely perceived as arrogant. If you know something, you're not smart. You're a smarty-pants. It's annoying. People get annoyed with your knowledge. It goes back to high school, to not doing your homework ... 'There's something I should know, I don't know why I should know it but someone knows it and I don't. So I'm going to have to make fun of him now.'"

No, that's just Tony Kushner's insufferable pretentiousness. There are clearly defined songs.

Some are clearly defined, but most bleed into others especially instrumentally. I can see why he did it.

wait, are you able to put the cd in the computer and then put it on itunes to put it on my ipod? i got a little confused because some were saying that it was destroyed while they tried importing it from the computer.
If iTunes is your default player, the CD will be ripped onto your iTunes account and then it will end up on your iPod the next time you hook it up.
Buy it.
Buy it.

BUYTHEWHOLETHING!!!
It's amazing, and the tracks flow together so buying them separate would be funny.

The show is like others have said basically sung through like an opera.
And what's even more bizzare is the way the tracks are split on the CD. While the songs are continuous, the CD tracks split them in the weirdest places.
So if you were to buy a track here and there on iTunes, you wouldn't even get a full song because it has like the last 10 seconds of the song before it, and then the last 10 seconds are cut off.
You have to get the CD....

Well, I can't let a thread about my favorite musical of all time go by without posting.
As others have said, you must own the entire CD and listen to it from start to finish (at least for the first time). It is truly a masterpiece and everyone must own this.
uncageg--your CD burning software should have an option to eliminate the pauses between tracks. I know this from experience, as I have had to make several copies myself. I agree that the pauses are an annoyance!

The cast recording is brilliant. The performances are top-notch throughout (I for one can't understand how Veanne Cox or Chandra Wilson didn't land a Tony nod for their beautiful, touching work).
As I've said in other threads about the recording, someone messed up badly when making the cuts between the tracks.
Yes, the songs flow seamlessly from one to the next but if you want to listen to a single track (i.e. "I Hate the Bus" or "Salty Teardrops") you're screwed. I have my iTunes set up so it plays as a gapless album but if you have the songs on random, the cut ending of each song is really atrocious. It'd be great to get a re-issue sometime that fixes this problem.
Otherwise it is probably my favorite cast recording. I don't think any show has moved me more than CAROLINE, OR CHANGE.
When are Kushner and Tesori going to sit down and give us another marvelous show?
