So I recently got dumped. Totally SUCKED. I have always found that music (musical theatre to be exact) helps me through whatever Im going through in my life. SOOOOO Im searching for REALLY good break up, getting over it, moving on, broken hearted, i will survive (think chers 'Song For the Lonely' but musical theatre).......... MUSICAL THEATRE songs. Does anyone have any suggestions?!???
When I got dumped (before this current and permanent boyfriend) the song:
A Fine Fine Line from AVENUE Q was perfect for the breakup
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
Hmm...well, I'll give you the ones that usually make me feel better. A couple of them will only apply if you got dumped by a guy. Either way, hope it helps!
"Forget About the Boy" - Thoroughly Modern Millie "Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" - South Pacific "I Move On" - Chicago, the movie version "There's A fine, Fine Line" - Avenue Q "Casualty of Love" - The Wedding Singer
Last time I had my heart really broken, I basically listened to songs that reminded me of all the happiness that I was missing out on, and the songs that I had deemed as "our" songs (as we didn't actually have any songs, as we actually hadn't dated).
There's a song on the concept album "Lunch" (DRG Records) called something like "Perfectly Fine Alone" that you might want to listen to
"A coherent existance after so many years of muddle" - Desiree' Armfelt, A Little Night Music
"Life keeps happening everyday, Say Yes" - 70, Girls, 70
"Life is what you do while you're waiting to die" - Zorba
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
"But Not for Me" (first in Girl Crazy, then in Crazy for You) "Losing My Mind" from Follies (a GREAT song) "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" from Evita
Not really a breakup song, but a favorite of mine and in some ways it fits: "What I Did for Love" from A Chorus Line
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
