A Tim Burton Directed "Into The Woods"#1
Posted: 12/3/07 at 9:50pm
We where talking in the Sweeney Thread about Burton directing "Into The Woods", if this was to come about ( and this is only wishful thinking ) who would you cast?

Jack's Mother...Judi Dench.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Tim Burton directing ITW is an awsome idea. Ewan McGregor as the baker.
Helena Bonham Carter - the witch.

"Okay, so what part would Johnny Depp play?"

I can't think of any really creepy characters in this for Depp to play. Perhaps the Mysterious Man? Or the Wolf?

Judi Dench already did the witch, didn't she?

I think that it wouldn't work. The first act is too fanciful for him (but not in the over the top Willy Wonka way) and the second act if too moral driven.

I really do like that cast, for the most part.
Anyone remember post-production of a movie starring Goldie Hawn and Robin Williams as the Baker and wife (not in that order!)and Steve Martin for the wolf? That sounds pretty fun to me!

Judi Dench did the voice of the Giantess in ITW Broadway revival.

it might be a good idea if Burton did it. But I don;t know.

That reading had a brilliant cast, starting with Cher as the Witch which would have been genius. Oh well.
I love the Laura Linney idea for the Baker's Wife and Annie Hathaway would indeed make a fantastic Cinderella, I think Anika Noni Rose is great for the part as well since she reads younger on the screen. Then there's the Witch, I'd love to see Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, or Toni Collette in the role.

Ooo I like Anika Noni Rose as Cinderella!

Thus:

Baker: I can't think of anyone perfect yet...
Baker's Wife: Toni Collette
Witch: I like someone's idea of Kate Winslet for this if her voice is strong enough. I also like Emma Thompson or Meryl Streep. Anika Noni Rose might also make a good witch too.
Cinderella: Anika Noni Rose or, Alison Pill (I know she sings, I just don't know how well).
Cinderella's Prince: James Marsen (even though he probably wouldn't do it at this point having played pretty much the same role)
Little Red: I love this little girl, apparently she's on a soap opera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CbpVS0YILI
Jack: An Unknown, or perhaps some young man no older than his early 20's I'm not thinking of...
Mysterious Man: Anthony Head

did anyone see Scott Cohen as Wolf in the 10th Kingdom mini series? I think he would make a great Baker. Not sure if he sings though.

Zac Efron's too pretty for Jack. I liked the suggestion of Elijah Wood. Cate Blanchett would fair pretty well as the witch, I think.

You KNOW he'd cast Johnny Depp as The Baker, and Helena Bohnam Carter as either THe Witch, or The Baker's Wife.

Catherine Zeta-Jones would make a really interesting Witch.

And please NOT Dakota Fanning as Little Red!

OMG abagail breslin as little red would be IDEAL.

although this would probably be wildly innappropriate, it could work: how about JHud as the witch?

Okay, so maybe i dont understand the topic. All of my choices were people that can obviously sing.

I mean, I could re-do them on Star power, but I mean, i'm assuming if he's going to direct the movie version of the musical, wouldn't the actors need to sing or is it going to be marni nixon x100?
