I haven't seen it yet because I'm stuck home sick, but I really want to. Denzel and Crowe? re: AMERICAN GANGSTER

I need to see this. Mostly so I can oogle Denzel.

That and it looks like a pretty rockin movie.

But really, I want to oogle Denzel.

A very well-made film that was thoroughly enjoyable. I had a blast.

I enjoyed it and I thought it was well-made, but it failed to get under my skin. Although I found it to be a good film, I also found it to be terribly forgettable. So while it was well made, I was hoping for a little bit of originality in the approach.

The shoot-out near the end was so well-done.

There's a shootout near the end?!

Thanks for spoiling it!

Best gangster film in years? I think The Departed takes that title by a longshot. I thought the movie was good and entertaining, but I thought the performances by Denzel and Russel Crowe left a lot to be desired...

I liked it very much.

Washington's best work ever is in this film. I thought the standout performance though, came from Della Reese. I hope she takes home the Supporting Actress Oscar. She really knocked it out of the park in a relatively small role.
Current Avatar: Cynthia Erivo, bringing down the house in The Color Purple.

Della Reese? Is she in this film?

Maybe you mean Ruby Dee?

Hahaha! Della Reese? I agree! Give her the Oscar!

It was wonderful to see Ruby Dee, and while she may very well land a nomination for the film, I find it ridiculous that you think she deserves to win. To each his own, but she didn't do much. How shocking it is to see a rash Oscar comment from wickedrocks...
