Flameless Candles#1

As many of you know, I'm a great fan of Yankee Candles. However, with a very curious 2 1/2 year old around the house, we've decided to go (mostly) flameless this year. Some of the candles we've bought are really terrific. There's one we got from Avon that you can actually blow out.

Has anyone had good or bad experiences with these things?

Absolutely not! Candles - like gay men - are NOTHING without their flame.

For Homecoming, my friends decided to go to Taco Bell, so when we got there, we brought tablecloths and flameless candles. It worked out pretty well.

They look tacky.

If you can't have real candles, then just don't have any.

But yes, I agree, they are pretty tacky for the most part.

Unless you live onstage in a big theater, I agree with the "tacky" assessments.

What kinds of toxic chemicals are those scented ones putting into the atmosphere, anyway? Nothing healthy for the under-three set, I can guarantee you that.

where else have you ordered the flameless candles, aside form avon? i've yet to see anything that doesn't look ridiculously tacky or fake. i was given a few ridiculous tea light candles, that actually flicker subtly, but the light eminated is too white to seem real. i miss burning candles. but i really don't feel like deal with fines from public safety. cinderblock is f-ing fireproof anyways...

I think I would get rid of the 2.5 year old and have real candles.
Is the child unusually large? I mean can you put real candles where the child cannot reach?
