Who will be the next Elfie and Glinda? Rumors are spreading. A blog from Richard Blake stated that Annaleigh will be the next Glinda. Stephanie J. Block stated that there is a small window for her to do the show after Murney but Lea Michele also wants to do take over the role. Who should take it and why? Will Annaleigh be a good Glinda?
Assuming you mean Annaleigh Ashford (how many other people named "Annaleigh" are there?), she has gone on as Glinda numerous times when she was the understudy, so there's no reason why she wouldn't be what the producers consider to be "good," though what you consider "good" may differ.
Who deserves take over for Julia Murney? Easy. Whoever the producers hire. Updated On: 8/25/07 at 10:50 AM
well we know that Glinda is gonna be Annaleigh from Richard Blake (but yeah that also hasn't been officially announced I guess) but I'm also very curious if it's going to be Michele or Block.
RIP Natasha Richardson. ~You were a light on this earth ~
It would be unwise for Lea to leave SA at its peak to be the 6th or so replacement. I personally think it'll be Block through January and Michele will take over then.

I would still love to see Lisa be bumped up from the standby to full-time Elphaba. She has so much talent. I would love to see her opposite Annaleigh. But obviously that won't happen.
Is the getting out of Lea's contract hearsay? First she backs out of the Les Miz revival (understandably so), and then "tries" to get out of her present contract with Spring Awakening. Actions like that will just give her a bad name. Wicked isn't going anywhere, be patient.
Hate to say it, but Lea would probably make more money in WICKED. That's how things work these days... she wants a higher paying job, of course being a 6th replacement sounds good.
Besides the fact that it's Wicked. It doesn't matter what number replacement she is. Lea would be going from a hit show to a hit show. No problem there.
I think Annaleigh and Lea would make a good pair because they are both around the same age and it would be really interesting to see a Elphie/Glinda pair that is actually close to their ages in the beginning of the show. As long as Lea can sing it of course.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

If Stephanie and Annaleigh are taking over in October, broadway is in for a treat! I never saw Annaleigh as Glinda but she is hilarious in LB and I can tell that she has a lot of qualities and manerisms that would transfer very nicely over to WICKED!
And as for Steph, oy... I can't believe I might have to start following all the WICKED gossip again. Kudos to her in advance if she can pull off I'm Not That Girl as effectively as she did before. That's gonna be a tough one to do coming off a honeymoon! I'm sure she'll be awesome.
Maybe she'll improv one night Glinda: Fiyero and I are going to get married Elphaba: He's asked ME already LOL
I've been gone for a week. I was so afraid I was gonna miss the announcement. Somethingwicked, says who? Annaleigh as Glinda? SOOO did not see that one coming. But, yeah, they should be announcing it any day now.
well in the Broadway in Bryant Park video on Broadway.com, there was a split second when they showed Lea Michele talking to Julia Murney, and I couldnt help but wonder if there was any..."I wish I could be Elphaba" talk coming from Michele...
who knows. Just thought that wouldve been interesting. More likely it was just "Johnathon, were on to perform" and Murney happened to be there...ah. one can wonder.

This is coming from the person who thought that just because that girl from High School Musical saw Spring Awakening, she may be Wendla.
Somethingwicked is correct. Block will replace Murney and Michele will replace Block, the dates have not been finalized but the ones that he said were give or take a few days, right.
And that would make Brescia have a couple of weeks in October for Stephanie's wedding, right? At least, I hope so. She's so incredible.
And, I actually have seen Annaleigh as Glinda. To be kind, I'll say she wasn't my favorite. But I can only assume she's improved since last year.

WAT - All I know (and all I'd feel appropriate to post) is what she herself has already stated publically.
In an interview with Jim Caruso she said they are getting married in Italy on a Thursday in October, and will be techinically married in the States before then so that's it's recognized here as legal.
I don't remember her discussing the honeymoon. The Thursday stuck in my mind though cause she explained why they chose that day of the week.
You can listen to the interview if you're interested in hearing about it in her own words.
Thanks, Popular. I have a ticket for Julia Murney's final performance on October 7th and also a ticket for October 9th (which I was hoping would be Stephanie's first performance). I guess I'll have to wait for the official announcement before I do anything with my tickets.
