Anyone have any ideas as to why the series hasn't been released on DVD? I know the series was offered years ago by Columbia House but you would think it would be released by now.

I would love a DVD of all the Conway/Korman sketches, plus one of their movie & commercial spoofs.

I think it's a shame that these arent still available. I had a bad run in with Columbia House and ended up cancelling my order. Then they stopped selling them altogether...and on ebay, dupes are quite expensive.

I want to see the musical numbers that were edited out of the syndicated shows.

Darn, I clicked here hoping you had some DVD news. oh well.

Yes - This needs be on DVD.

I wish someone would put "La Caperucita Roja" and "Cinderella Gets It on" on that website. Those two episodes were brilliant- and I think the last two of the series actually.

"i want EVERY Euenice sketch!!!!!!"

One of my favorites was when they went to the fancy restaurant. Mama can't figure out how to use a pepper mill so she starts banging it on the table. Eunice grabs it and says, "It's a pepper mill, Mama. You griiiiiind a pepper mill."

The Eunice sketches were brilliant. Vicki Lawrence was always a scream. But I hate the way they softened the Mama character on Mama's Family. My favorite was when Mama, Ed, and Eunice played Sorry.

My favorite Eunice sketch was this one where Conway goes off-script:

Eunice singing "Feelings" on the Gong Show was another one that was funny. I bet that's what's holding up the DVD release.

the rights shouldn't be that much of an issue. I have both season 1 and 2 of the muppet show on DVD, and since it's a variety show format, it's the same deal, many famous and not so famous songs are included in every episode. If they could clear all the rights for use of the songs, why can't the Carol Burnett company do that? maybe it has to do with the estate of one of the main actors involved. I do wish they would come out, though. I would be first in line.

Life would not be as bright for me if I hadn't had Carol, Vicki, Tim, Harvey and Lyle in the seventies. A Saturday night with M*A*S*H, Bob Newhart, All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore, and Carol, is it any better than that!!!
Mama, Eunice, and the Siamese elephants, genius.
Mildred Fierce, Went with the Wind and all the movie parodies.
Nora Desmond
Mr. Tudball and Mrs. Wiggins.

Sorry to threadjack, but the mention of that CBS lineup reminded me of the finale of Bob Newhart's other hit sitcom. Its ending was perhaps the most brilliant moment ever on TV:

"It has to do with all the musical numbers in it and the rights."

How can that be, Dame, if they've already been released by Columbia House?

I always assumed it's that Carol Burnett herself owns the rights to it, and she struck a more lucrative deal with Columbia House (which made the discs crazy expensive, with only 2 full episodes per disc). Until that deal expires and she decides to strike a deal with another distributor, we won't see them released.

And there are plenty of other variety shows out on DVD now, so I can't see song rights as being a major hold-up.

But as Veruca Salt once wisely said:

I WANT IT NOW!!!

...and I don't feel like selling a kidney to get the Columbia House releases... not to mention I don't have the shelf space for 30,000 DVDs with 2 episodes each on them.

Personally, I think it's the Ernie Flatt Dancers that are holding it up. They always looked like a mean bunch.

I wish that TV Land would step up and put some of the shows in their lineup. The full hour, not the half hour syndicates. It's time for these shows to be viewed again.

"Ernie Flatt Dancers"

I had the biggest crush on one of those dancers when I was a teenager.
