I'm sure they'd like to replace Lea with someone who can sing.

Just curious why you would think that going to Spring Awakening is "interesting." Not criticizing you or anything, but Vanessa is very much (obviously) into the performing arts (theater, concerts, her own pop career). Why wouldn't she see Spring Awakening?
Not directed at you - I just find it funny that so many times when someone is photographed backstage or is spotted in the audience, rumors start swirling around. As if someone in the entertainment industry only would attend a Broadway show if they planned on getting involved.
People from all professions enjoy the theater. If anything, someone in the industry might be even more inclined to enjoy an evening out where they can sit back, relax and be entertained by someone else...

I'd kind of like to see the Spring Awakening fans take out the HSM fans in a battle of True Fandom: the HSM fans sporting their best high-pitched screeches to arm against the SA fans and their "IT WAS MINE FIRST!!!!" claims.
She might be able to handle the acting end of things, but she has a very limited singing voice. And unless she's ready to break free (sorry) of the Disney machine, the nudity and overall subject matter could pose a problem.
It would be perfect for diversifying her image and de-Disneyfying herself. The stage door would insane. Vanessa is much bigger than Annelise Vanderpol and Annelise could barely get out the stagedoor alive with all her limbs intact.

I really doubt Disney would let her do it, if she's still under contract for another HSM sequel. Plus, she's not good enough either, acting or singing wise and I really doubt she could pull of a live show 8 performances a week.
I remember people saying Fantasia should not be in The Color Purple, etc, etc. And she is doing fine. And got good reviews.
Craig...I agree with your post.
Who says this young woman can't handle 8 shows a week? Who is to say her voice has not gotten stronger or that she hasn't been working on it and her acting since filming HMS2? It just amazes me sometimes how people will put other people down before they have the chance to prove themselves. JMO
Annelise, however, was in a Disney product, so no image tarnishing issues there.
If Vanessa wanted to do something on Broadway (or Off for that matter), let her get her feet wet on something lighter (like Sophie in "Mamma Mia") before throwing her into something that could either break the mold for her or be a black spot on her career.
As for Fantasia, it's not the best comparison. Her potential acting skills were a definite question mark, but her voice never was. Updated On: 8/21/07 at 02:45 PM
I don't know what the touring performance schedule was - but in talking with Lucas Grabeel earlier this month (he was on tour with Vanessa) - I got the impressions it was a crazy schedule (performing AND travelling).
I believe most actors would tell you that doing tours is more exhausting. If Vanessa can hold her own on tour, I'm sure she'd be fine on Broadway. In whatever show she might enter into...

I had forgotten that they went on tour-still, I haven't been convinced of Vanessa's talent yet, especially acting-wise. SA is far more demanding than anything in HSM which just makes me wonder.
Fantasia's acting skills may have been in question based on that TV movie she did, but she must have impressed someone, or worked on her skills to get the part. I don't think they would have put her in the show if they were worried about her acting skills. People do take lessons and hone their skills.
