I wonder if the success (or lack thereof, depending on who you talk to) of the musical had anything to do with this. It would be nice to think that for once Bway had an impact on Hollywood.
I read about plans for this about a 6 to 8 months ago, so I dont think it was influenced by the show.
But ehh, I dont know who they're going to find to fill in Reese's shoes...

I've been expecting news since I saw LB2. I remember it ends when they get married and Emmet asks Elle where she wants to live and she turns her head to the White House so I thought maybe... LB3 Elle Woods for President??
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." Sherie Rene Scott
I see that they tried to line up the "top notch" directing talent behind The Bratz Movie and That's So Raven, but he was too busy to direct this, so they passed it on to the man behind such gems as Lizzie Maguire and Zoey 101. Is this straight to teen video or what? Elle Woods, the tween years?
"Winning a Tony this year is like winning Best Attendance in third grade: no one will care but the winner and their mom."

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

If it's done WELL I see no problem. But they can't do it without Reese. It really would probably be nothing without her. We have learned the importance of casting the RIGHT person in the role of Elle Woods already.
I mean, Denzel Washington? Gun to my head..of course.
