It's pretty much guaranteed we will get a couple of pics when movie shoots move out doors.

This thread is of no use without a shot of Dominic Cooper in a skintight bathing suit.

Good job they didnt film in Mykonos as they would have had load of extras f.... in the backgound to 'Dancing Queen". The hills are alive on that island!!!!!!!!!!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

Colin Firth is the only reason I'm remotely interested in this film.
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

I should probably see this on Broadway before the movie makes it even more difficult to get a ticket.

Woof, Meryl Streep, though.

See it with Carmello. She is amazing. Her "Winner Takes It All" blows the roof clear off the theatre.

Well, that's the only reason I would bother. Carolee. Though I said I would see it when Leah Hocking was in it. But that never happened.

August 29 is totally a Sunday!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Really looking forward to the movie. I think Tina Maddigan should make a cameo sorta like Ricki Lake did in Hairspray! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

are they going to have everyone break into "voulez vous" at a dinner party and then when it ends they all do jazz hands to the camera frame and then switch to another scene? that would be amazing. i'd dance in the aisles at the AMC. they need to also put in that mega mix at the end.. that sort of muriels wedding ending.

I always thought MAMMA MIA! should have been a movie to begin with, not a stage musical.
This movie is going to be campy, fun, and exciting. Meryl Streep knows how to do camp to a T and she's a genius at making fun of herself. I can't wait for this movie.

As long as they film the location like a vacation post card (which I think this whole show is, to begin with)... it should do well.

I have a feeling if everyone rises to the occasion, this movie is going to be a big fat hit.

The masses will love it... sunny skies, beaches, sexy kids, Meryl Streep, campy fun, romance, and ABBA. Nothing to really think about, but rather a vehicle to escape from daily life. Should do very well.

That's the way I felt when I saw the stage show... I turned to our group and said, "this show feels like a summer vacation."

If they can capture that "fun" feeling on film (which shouldn't be too hard), they've got it made.

The worst thing would be if it comes across as "labored." That will kill it quicker than anything else.

Bright, light and breezy, please!

My only worry is Phyllida Lloyd.

She's never directed a movie before, she only has a stage background.

At least they're doing some on location shots instead of shooting the whole thing on a cartoonish set like THE PRODUCERS. With Brooks as a producer, I'm still shocked he allowed it to be filmed like that.

I just hope Lloyd will be different. I mean, Rob Marshall had no film directorial experience prior to CHICAGO except the Disney ANNIE. So, technically he had a bit of a leg up, but still not much more experience.

Here's hoping Lloyd knows what she's doing.

I COMPLETELY agree with your sentiments on the feel of the film, best12.

I just hope Carolee Carmello is in, otherwise I will truly be devastated.

BSoBW2, I saw Carolee Carmello for the first time last month and while I enjoyed her for the most part I wasn't overly impressed. I just saw it this past week with one of her understudies, Laurie Wells, and she does an incredible job (she was the lead in the tour of MM and I'm a fan of hers from then), so I don't think you would be disappointed if, for some reason Carolee wasn't there.
