Haha, I was just thinking that it would be interesting to know who on here has been on Broadway and such, but I guess asking would seem like you were trying to find Broadway stars, not just wanting to hear about their experiences.

Are there a fair deal of people here, though that have done or are acting in Broadway shows?

Not broadway (i wish) but in Londons West End

Stage door is normally fine but its when certain fans of the show and cast come back night after night and wont let anyone else get near to us as they want to talk to us.

We had a group of a few fans of the show (Fame) and they came to see this show all the time.They developed a bit of a crush on me(blushes) and used to send me letters to stage door and sometimes packages.Once i got an envelope with underwear in from them and i was a little freaked out.

They would always push to the front of the stage door nearly every other night(even when they had not seen the show) and they were all these poor kids who just wanted to say hi etc and never got the chance.

Then they started following me and the other cast from the stage door to Heaven or G.A.Y ( night clubs we would go drinking in)and turn up in the club (scary)

Eventually our stage manager had to go out and talk to them one night(turned in to an argument) Needless to say they never sent me underwear again lol

Not really

The young kids would ask how they get in to working as a dancer/singer etc which was always nice

The older fans of the show would just ask for pics with them or autographs.They would ask if so and so would be on on a certain night, or if we knew how long the show would be running for.

99 percent of the time it was a joy to do and everyone was really sweet, i never understood the performers who just run out of the door and refuse to sign anything etc , its stupid and a little disrespectful in my opinion.

I dont think our stage doors are as manic as the Broadway ones though.

I rember reading revies from when Idina was over in London. One poster who had went to London to see her in the show mentioned how there are no baricades at the stage doors over there like there are here.

I found that interesting mainly because at a lot of broadway shows there are people who are literally pushing to get through.

Although, as a personal anicdote. There had been a few times where it was clear to the rest of the cast that I was just some guy standing off to the corner minding my own business. And the all of a sudden I am getting pushed up against the barricade. A couple of times the actors had been nice enough to let me hop over and continue to wait for the actors on the other side of the barricade.

I just got cast in my first show, I am in the process of shadowing the actors. I think it is horribly annoying to any actor when you come out the stage door and someone says "Oh, who did you play." Especially for the lead of a show.

It's nice to get perspectives. I used to be gutsy and do it, but now I've chickened out. I always hoped people appreciated the fandom.

SingOutLoud928 - I never have because I think it's weird, but sometimes it's hard to tell. If your seats are far or they have ridiculous make-up. . .

I don't get why that would be insulting. I mean, they were at the show. They watched you. If they still can't tell at the door (especially if you are a lead), it shouldn't be an insult.

Actually, I think I may go see something with Patti LuPone and ask her this when she comes out.

ussually its really sweet when people come to the stagedoor but when people ask you to sign 10 playbills it get annoying, i have a life i dont want to be out signing the whole night.

ussually ill just go out through the other door so i dont have to see anyone

I know when Jennifer Laura Thompson was in Wicked, she was constantly asked who she played in the show, as everyone assumed she was in the ensemble because everyone assumed whoever played Glinda would be blonde. This is from a broadway.com video.
