The cheaters who worked at the ACL lottery got caught. Move on and get a grip.

they weren't cheaters! YOU get on with it. There was no "cheating" as you call it.

The ACL self-appointed representative on ATC yesterday said several times that the lotto was rigged.

And even if he/she hadn't said so, it's extremely unlikely that the producers would have pulled the lottery if it wasn't corrupt. Producers don't make decisions based on message board chatter. If they did, there'd be no movie musicals at all. Updated On: 7/31/07 at 02:06 PM

it was because of mssg board people causing scenes in the lobby.

the lotto always has a clause posted - "based on availability", and just about every show gives the cast a chance to use a few lotto seats. Nothing no. Nothing undrehanded. It was the PRODUCER'S policy.

Can you at all back up this theory of people causing a disruption in the lobby? Hasn't shown up anywhere in the theatre press, some of whom have come out to say it didn't happen like that.

I have certainly been there when it's happened. People are always causing a fuss now. "Oh well if we don't win we're going to make a scene because clearly it's rigged." I've seen that happen at least once.

I still stand by my "if it wasn't rigged, the producers wouldn't have changed the policy." But it doesn't matter one way or the other, since it's gone, to the delight of many people on both boards.

So why, if this was nothing new, nothing underhanded, and the lotto was 'based on availability,' etc. did the cast lotto 'winners' have to go through the pretense of having their names pulled?

Anakela, the definition of lottery seems to evade these people. You can't win. (Oh, wait, you can.)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I would rather have a rigged lottery than no lottery at all (And remeber, not everyone can get student rush).

Oh yeah I too am not a student, so I totally feel you on that part, but I think I would rather have a rigged lotto (or "a lotto where everyone knows the cast gets first crack at the lotto tickets," for those who don't like the word 'rigged') if I *know* that it's rigged, just say upfront that there's a small(er) number of seats tonight...it's worth it to me to spend my time trying lotto if I'm trying for 1 or 2 tix out of 20+ seats, but some days it's not worth it to me to try for 1 or 2 tix of 12 seats, which is why I haven't tried Ave Q lotto in forever. But at Q I know ahead of time that there's only 12 seats total, I don't expect for there to only be 12 seats at ACL, Rent, etc. lottos.

but for the record, I've won the ACL lotto, twice, and I know no one in the show.

and Izzy's Baby is going to make Broadway legend faster than I did. :)

Some people would rather stay with a boyfriend who cheats on them than have no boyfriend at all.

That's what always comes to my mind when I hear the argument that we should settle for a corrupt lottery over none at all.

When we just accept things we feel might be unjust, afraid to discuss them for fear of their being taken away, then nobody has any incentive to do anything honorably. Should we all just bend over and say, "thank you sir, may I have another?"

I'd rather have no lottery.

Artscallion, that's retarded. The two aren't even comparable. The lottery isn't cheating ON YOU with someone else. And the lottery wasn't corrupt! What you don't get is that it was totally within the rules of the lotto. Other people did win, it wasn't corrupt.

Hey! This chump just called me retarded. Hurry up and fix that blocking feature, admins! No, seriously.

I'm not saying the lottery was cheating on me! That interpretation of what I said is idiotic. Do you always think so literally? I'm comparing two situations in which someone accepts something bad because it's better than having nothing at all. ACL isn't a man either. Does that blow my theory? Doesn't your mind work in more complex, comparative, abstract ways?

And as for it not being corrupt anyway, that's your opinion. Fine. Clearly many people do not share your opinion. Why such strong reactions to it even being mentioned? Either you have a stake in it, or you're a fangirl that sees the show every night and needs the lottery.

Isn't it quite obvious the people defending the rigged lottery are the ACL groupies?

No better than the Wicked groupies.

Hey, random ACL cast member, LOOK AT me. Me. Me. I'm defending the rigged lottery. Look at me. Can't you see how devoted I am? I'm defending YOU! You, ACL cast member who can do no wrong. I want to be just like you. I'm studying theatre in school. You're so hot. I want you. I want to be just like you. OMG, I'll die if I don't see you every single day of the week. You email me. You talk to me at the stage door. You are my FRIEND. OMG. OMG. OMG!!!!!

Typically in life, artscallion, when you make an analogy, you are supposed to take it literally. That's the point of an analogy, it's a literary device. So no, it's not AT ALL like having a boyfriend cheat on you. If that's not how you intended it, come up with a different analogy that at least makes sense and pertains to the matter at hand.

Also, I didn't call you retarded, I said "that's retarded". I called the analogy retarded.

I do not have any stake in the show. And no, I am not a fangirl who NEEDS the lotto. I am a guy who likes to go when I can, but by no means do I need the lotto to get my "fix". I just hate when people complain about crap that isn't their problem or business. The lotto was a priveledge and now it's gone for everyone. The people who couldn't afford full price tickets (I can afford them, so I can buy them if I want) are the ones who suffer.

Oh and Musicalsfan, that's just being dumb and catty. I am not even studying theatre in school, nor have I ever done so. And I have plenty of friends thank you very much. I have no desire to be "noticed" by the people in the cast. If I did that I would stage door every performance I went to. Such is not the case. Grow up. Just because you disagree with us doesn't make us stupid fangirls.

Uh, for the record, I've never even SEEN A Chorus Line. So don't make blanket assumptions unless you know what you're talking about.

analogy - inference that if two or more things agree with one another in some respects they will probably agree in others

It is not just a literary device.

It is clear you lack the simple logical reasoning ability that artscallion possesses.

Did I say all the people defending?

But a good many are judging by their loudly touted connections to this production. They know people. Yeah, that's what they want us to know. They have connections. They know these cast members. They're best buds.
