I think we're all clear on the shows we wanna see revived? But what shows don't you see being revived in say, 10 years.

My top pick is Legally Blonde, sure it hasn't closed yet, but it won't be revived.

Unfortunately, I don't think SA will stand the test of time either.

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

Why in the world would you think Spring Awakening won't be revived?

Spring Awakening, for all its flaws, is something that is likely to be revived. Its themes connect with all ages.

Little Women flop.
The Pirate Queen (unless they work on it. And make it...good)
those are just 2 that come to mind at first

You know, I want to say Lestat..but I feel like maybe one day it will be revived.

Oh God, could you imagine if one day when RENT closes, it's revived again?

I mean, Denzel Washington? Gun to my head..of course.

I'd like to see Jane Eyre revived...And re-vamped. Keep the music intact, but give the script a total overhaul(A lot of the dialogue in the show is just terrible)...And also, bring back the full-length version of 'Naughty Girl.'

If Jane Eyre were to be revived, I'd want them to use most of the Toronto version. Some of the Broadway changes were awful and completely contradicted the novel.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

Ankles Aweigh

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Titanic should never ever be revived, not that there's a chance of that happening anytime soon...

Why, hello Margaret! Yes darling, half past five. Well, everyone, simply le tout Park Avenue and la creme de Hyannis! Well, the press table's going to be awfully crowded... but if you don't mind sharing a folding chair with Harper's Bazaar... Sing? Me? Heavens no, it's Edie's day, not mine... Although people can be so insistent, and I hate to disappoint. Twist my arm, blackmail me, threaten my very life, and who knows? You might get a verse of something...

If SA were to be revived a decade or so from now, it would be strictly as a curiosity piece. I imagine that by then the music will seem as quaint as Benny Goodman does to most of us now.

I think there are a lot of shows that will be tough to revive. We saw what happened with A Chorus Line and Les Miz. I think that, with all the big shows, they will be revived but can never be re-imagined. I love to see a new take on a show, such as with Company and 110, but I can't imagine somebody bringing Rent back in 2025 with a brand new staging. It's just too ingrained in everyone's memory, no one would dare mess with it.

It's just a message board. Let's not take it too seriously.

what better challenge than taking a monumental flop and making it work? i say someone should revive "moose murders!"

and what's wrong with benny goodman? i'd love to see "over here!" again, even without the andrews sisters. maybe travolta can produce it.

I'm prbably gonna be in the minority with this one, but i hate 42nd street. I found the most recent revival dull and stale - the best part was the mirror, which upstaged all of the actors.

I hope that when they revive Titanic, the ship actually sinks.

>> and what's wrong with benny goodman?

Nothing at all. I happen to love Big Band music. But it's definitely music of another era and has, over the decades, lost its original power to become something we associate with being cute and nostalgic. SA's "score" will no doubt suffer the same fate to be seen as a quaintly dated little work.

Yeah. I definitely think we'll see a NIGHT MUSIC revival sometime during the next 10 years.

I read somewhere that there used to be plans for A Little Night Music revival starring Glenn Close and directed by Trevor Nunn. It was supposed to open in 2005. Anyone else hear this and what happend. I also think Titanic shouldn't be revived. I also couldn't see Pippin getting revied.

I guess the reason husk is saying ALNM won't be revived is that... well, people (including myself) have been bitching about it for a while. Just frigging do it already!

"The way things are going, Mame, On the 20th Century, The Wiz, and A Little Night Music won't get revived....but should "

My opinions:

On the 20th Century will not get a mainstream Broadway revival, but could certainly be done at Encores/ Reprise/ etc. in the near future.

A Little Night Music will definitely be revived on Broadway within the next 5 years. With John Doyle, Roundabout, and LCT all having mined Sondheim's catalogue recently, this is the next big one to hit--- and someone will.

The Wiz... well, I hoped the LaJolla production would transfer, but now that that's petered out, any other production of the show certainly looks unlikely for Bway.

Mame... my prediction is we'll see it on Broadway in the next 10 years.

If Doyle did NIGHT MUSIC with the instrument concept... I would shoot myself.

I don't think it would work at all. I'd be all for him doing it without the instruments though.

^ Agreed. I like Doyle, but if he sacles down those gorgeous, lush original orchestrations with his actor/orchestra concept, then I don't want him near it.

We DO need a Night Music revival. Now.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

LOL, Ljay, I know. I'd be so upset if Doyle uses this concept again...
I actually would love a full-blown revival with a big star helming the production.
To stay on the thread's topic:
ANYONE CAN WHISTLE-Other than concerts I don't think this show will ever have a commercial revival.
A DOLL'S LIFE-Awful awful score, terrible premise.
AIN'T BROADWAY GRAND
THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE GOES PUBLIC
FOSSE/JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY-Both probably deserve a revival at some point in the late future but I doubt anyone would be interested in reviving them on Broadway.
LA STRADA
THE WEDDING SINGER-I wonder why there even was an original production at all.
THE PIRATE QUEEN
