"KATIE Holmes seems eager to resume her acting career with a plum role in "Nine," the movie version of the Broadway musical being directed by Oscar winner Rob Marshall. The wife of Tom Cruise and mother of little Suri did a singing and dancing audition in Marshall's office on Tuesday, as did Demi Moore. Also being talked about are Marshall's "Chicago" stars, Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones."
Ah, yes - Dawson's Creek Does Broadway. I like Katie Holmes (or I used to) but as for her singing the best I can say is she can carry a tune, period. Dancing quality unknown.
Who do we think Holmes went in and read for? Claudia?
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Well, Tom has to approve of the role that she wants in Nine. Yeah, it's so weird that any role that Katie gets offered, she has to run it by Tom, but anything he gets offered, he can just go and do it. He's the reason that she's not doing The Dark Knight and instead some comedy with Queen Latifah.
Yuck...Katie Holmes is terrible, her On My Own is worse than Mandy Bruno's. And the sad thing is, apparently she was almost cast as Christine in the Phantom movie, but Joel thought she was too old...and people thought Emmy was a bad choice, a lot more people would be complaining if Katie was Christine.
Just checked her out singing 'On My Own'. Either she's a brilliant actress and is especially skilled at playing characters who can't sing for toffee, or she is an abysmal singer.
Any non-singing roles in 'Nine' she could have? :P
best12bars, would it be safe to say Moore was in for Luisa?

That's not true.
The studio let Holmes go after her performance warranted a heavily negative reception in what was otherwise a glowingly reviewed film.

Holmes can barely talk, how is she going to sing? EW

But I suppose Kevin Naff would boycott this film too if she's cast.

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
I remember on her E! True Hollywood Story {or was it Dawson's creek?}, she almost missed the audition for Dawsons because she was Lola in her high-school production of Damn Yankees.
Oh, ick. When I was watching Batman Begins and they got to the scene where she sees Bruce's gun and slaps him and gives him a big ol' talking-to and WON'T STOP SMIRKING THE WHOLE TIME... Well, all I could think was either she's a terrible actor, or she's had a stroke. Thank gods they replaced her with a real actor for the sequel.
I've loved you to death from the first time I saw you on Dawson's Creek. You're super cute and I think you're talented, but you've made some wrong decisions. Like Tom. WTF, Katie? Yeah, I know you said you were going to marry him way back, and your dream came true, but he's a freak! And I'm beginning to think you've been drinking too much Kool Aide. If you're just gonna be with him to get his money, that's fine, but God, girl, if you actually love that tyrannical bastard, then there isn't much America can do you for you.
You need to GET OUT! and find yourself a man that will let you do what you want, whether it be movies, or another TV series (but please don't!), or whatever.
She reads this board everyday, so Im sure she is going to get your message.
