So, assuming Encores does this again, what would you suggest (excuse any misspellings...to late and tired to look 'em up)?
Kristin Chenoweth-She Loves Me Bernadette Peters-Hello, Dolly Audra McDonald-Mame Reba McEntire -Best Little Whorehouse in Texas Brian Stokes Mitchell-Kismet Raul Esparza- Secret Garden Jennifer Holiday-Ain't Misbehavin' Idina Menzel-Evita and for fun
I'd see most of them... but I wouldn't think Idina could do Evita. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of hers, but it's such a demanding role that I'm not sure she could hold it up.
"Why, I make more money than... than... than Calvin Coolidge! PUT TOGETHER!" ~Lina Lamont
well, liza in anything. she cant seem to sustain a long run, but i think she could handle 3 weeks.
or, in a random pipe dream/fantasy of mine: dolly parton in hello, dolly. yes, it's gimicky and she's never done broadway, but i still think she'd be fun and have the personality to pull of the show.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Don't ask me why, but the idea popped into my head and I think it would be the singular most hilarious thing in the world. Imagine that voice singing, "Omigod, omigod you guys, all this week I've had butterflies."
Agree about Bernadette Peters in HELLO, DOLLY and Kristin Chenoweth in SHE LOVES ME. Chenoweth would be a riot during "Ice Cream" and "Where's My Shoe?" I'd be glad with all these: Jennifer Holliday and Nikki M. James in CAROLINE OR CHANGE. Anne Hathaway in FLORA THE RED MENACE. Donna Murphy in KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN. Jane Krakowski in MACK & MABEL. Meryl Streep and Jane Krakowski in ANYONE CAN WHISTLE. Anne Hathaway in SONG & DANCE.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with Victoria Clark, Angela Lansbury and Brian Stokes Mitchell.
ANYONE CAN WHISTLE with Patti LuPone, Natascia Diaz and Michael Cerveris.
THE CRADLE WILL ROCK with Audra McDonald.
HOW TO SUCCEED... with Laura Benanti and Raul Esparza.
THE RINK with Patti LuPone and Emily Skinner.
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD with Alice Ripley, Melissa Errico and John Lithgow.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
