* Songs for a New World (off-Broadway, but still amazing) * Bat Boy (see above) * Titanic * Little Shop of Horrors (not the best cast, but a complete recording) * Scarlet Pimpernel (do NOT get the Encore version!) * Hairspray * Aida * Big River * Rags * Ragtime * Seussical * A Chorus Line * The Fantasticks * La Boheme * My Fair Lady * The Producers * Rent * Thoroughly Modern Millie * Urinetown
That's all I can think of--OBCs aren't always the best recordings of a show, believe me!
"You're the worst thing to happen to musical theatre since Andrew Lloyd Webber!" --Family Guy
"Shut up! It's been 29 years!!!" --the incomparable Patti LuPone in her MUCH DESERVED Tony acceptance speech for Gypsy.

When Broadway Bound T.T. said 'spree' I don't think they meant 'every CD Virgin sells'
If you're looking for one or two then I'd recommend Seussical for good quirky upbeat fun and The Last Five Years for involving musical drama of variant styles.
Rent (it's a 2 disk- kind of pricey, so you might want to get the highlights) Man of La Mancha- the New Broadway cast recording, starring Brian Stokes Mitchell Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Jesus Christ Superstar Tick Tick Boom
Oklahoma London Cast recording with Hugh Jackman is excellent -- it includes two songs left out of the original production, It's A Scandal, sung by Ali Hakim, and Lonely Room, sung by Jud Fry. The latter is particularly excellent, as sung by Shuler Hensley. As I don't think they did a Broadway cast recording of the revival, the OLC should be available in the stores.
I have the Scarlet Pimpernel Encore cd, and I like it fine. It includes two bonus tracks sung by Linda Eder, and you hear both Terrence Mann and Rex Smith sing as Chauvalin, and Rachel York and Christine Andreas sing as Marguerite. Douglas Sills is the only SP though -- which is just as it should be.
I wasn't a huge fan of Encores. I liked that they had the new version of "Storybook" and "I'll Forget You," but I couldn't stand Rex's Chauvelin. I'll take Terry Mann anyday, thank you :)
