New Cast & Schedule Announced for The Big Voice

The Big Voice: God or Merman? will say goodbye to its two stars after its upcoming 100th performance in New York City and welcome a new cast to the critically acclaimed production.

Jim Brochu and Steve Schalchlin, who also wrote the show, will step down in their roles of Jim and Steve after more than 400 total performances in eight cities over five years.

"It has been so exciting to bring The Big Voice to New York," Brochu said. "The way the theater community has embraced this show has been thrilling."

The pair will be replaced by Carl Danielsen (as Steve) and Dale Radunz (as Jim) starting Mar. 17. Danielson has been seen in the Off Broadway production Trolls and Picon Pie, while Radunz counts Big River and Annie among his credits.

"We enthusiastically welcome Carl and Dale to The Big Voice family, and know they will be an amazing success," Schalchlin said.

The two-man, high-energy musical comedy is an unconventional look at a Baptist from Arkansas and a Catholic from Brooklyn and the strange realities and triumphs of their lives together and in show business.

The Big Voice follows Jim and Steve as they meet serendipitously on a ship in the Atlantic, embark on a gay marriage, bring their hit Off-Broadway musical to the stage, struggle with Steve's HIV, separate, and finally reconcile.

The New York Times described the show as "hilarious and utterly enthralling," while Variety found the production "funny, touching, and warmly endearing."

...but, if what I just read over at ATC is correct, it looks like we'll be able to welcome Steve and Jim to San Francisco this summer!!!
