The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I agree on RENT but like the movie more than the show
Re Sondheim, I must slighly disagree. He is talented & writes great scores but can we remove him from the pedestal many have placed him on
Follies was a once in a lifetime experience & one of the greatest musicals written

Oh man, this is going to be a fighting thread!
I'm going to go with:
Hair
Spring Awakening
Bare
Sunday in the Park
Into the Woods
They all have good qualities, but are held in higher esteem than they deserve, I think.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Yeah, Sondheim is a great wordsmith, but not the world's great composer.
While I really enjoyed Company which I just saw, and I saw so much more with this new orchestration, I think his early work was bordering on genius, but his later stuff lacks his early punch and drive.

I STRONGLY disagree with Spring Awakening being overrated, although I think some people on here only dislike it because it's popular.
I think, I'm sorry, West Side Story.

Maybe I just saw phantom at a bad time, but yeah I was board. I'm a big fan of the book though.
