it's actually not a terribly bad opening number. I've been listening to it whenever I feel down... it cheers me up.

I REALLY HATE THAT SONG (OMIGOD). They sing it not once, not twice, but THREE times during the show. Once was more than enough. I did like the "Legally Blonde Remix" and the Gay or European song used in the courtroom scene.

I saw the show again for the second time, tonight, and even though I love the show, the energy was very low today, maybe it was just the audience. I felt bad...they are so working their BUTTS off for this show. I got to talk to Andy Karl tonight people around were mentioning that changes are coming next week, so we will see what happens.

Did not notice anything different tonight except some new blocking movements and stuff, and Buzzier upstage Laura Bell Bundy and the ensemble in one of the first scenes that Buzzier is on (when Elle arrives at Harvard), Buzzier would not just stop barking...audience and the ensemble loved it, a lot of improvising.

Still a fun show...

jimnysf-- What do you mean, they sing it three times? Are we talking a full six-minute song, three times through? Or a full opening number with two reprises?

It's the opening song and it's reprised twice near the end of Act 2. For some reason, it just works my last nerve. I'd heard the demo and thought well, maybe I'll like it in the theatre but I still hated that song. I know some love it but....

I thought the first reprise was fine, and appropriate, but I didn't like it ending the show. I want the show to be more "Hairspray" in the sense that it has a completely new song at the end that is not a reprise.

Jacob: Just listen to the songs and transcribe the lyrics yourself if you want them that badly. Two of the songs are available for download here: http://shnsf.com/shows/show.asp?key=18&subkey=513
And "So Much Better" is on the 3-song sample CD several people have.

I try that but I can't hear some of the words clearly. And I don't type real fast and I will have to stop the song and pause it every time. I also don't know who is singing each part (characters).

So how would we know the characters? Anyone who gives you the lyrics will have transcribed them from the song. I can give you a general idea of who's singing and what the words are if you give me specific instances where you're having trouble...

sorry, I can't tell you which character sings each line but here are the lyrics to "Omigod"(b/c i'm procrastinating studying for a test). There's one phrase in there that I'm not sure of.

ETA: Now that I've written down the lyrics, I love how true they are to the situation from both the film and the show. "I’ve dreamed of your name next to my own/ But mine’s looking fine up there alone" and "Seeing my name up on that list/ That beats the first time that we kissed" aren't the most clever lyrics, but they're so true to the film and what needs to be done in that scene. I love it.
