If anyone is familiar with "Rags," your help would be apprecaited.

I am gearing up to audition for a production of the show next week, and wanted to know what the vocal ranges and prominence were of the male characters? I have been told I would be good for Avram, but I don't know much about the show.

In regards to an adition song.. any general suggestions? Someone gave me "Being Alive," but I'm not sure.

Any help would really be great!

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Avram is an immigrant Jewish father. If you're going for that role you might consider "Gliding" from Ragtime or "If I Were A Rich Man".

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

There has never been a more tedious audition song than "Being Alive". I would avoid it, at all cost. Sing anything else.

I don't think he means that the song itself is tedious....but the fact that a LOT of males sing it at auditions, and having to sit through it multiple times becomes tedious.

I agree, stay AWAY from "Being Alive." Use a song that is age-appropriate for the character. You wouldn't go into a job interview for Macy's in a basketball uniform...I would reccomend "Gliding" as well as "Reviewing the Situation" from Oliver.
