Yes, the musical is full of satire, such as Mary Jane Wilkes' song sung to her dead father's casket, Pap Finn's "Dad Gum Guv'mint" song, Tom's "How About a Hand for the Hog" and others.

The original was one of the first shows i saw on Broadway back in 85 and to this day i have wonderful memories of it. It was stunningly staged and the one shame is that it never transfered to London as was planned.


A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

It's one of my favorite shows I've been in.
