I just saw a local theater production and loved it. I never relized how fun rocky horror could be. Any signs of it coming back to broadway? I would love to see it. I'd pay any amount of money.

If this were 1999, I'd say an overwhelming yes.

You just missed it. Didn't take off, lost a ton of money. Won't be coming back for a while.

I know Rocky Horror was the first post-9/11 Broadway casualty, until they brought it back for a little while longer for the holiday (when I saw it and loved it), but how were sales pre-9/11? Could it have lasted under normal circumstances?

Well, at least it isn't a rush policy thread.

Look, Les Miserables is one of the most commercially successful musicals of all time. It sells itself.

The recent revival of Rocky Horror on Broadway wasn't that good, didn't do that well and as a result it will be a cold day in hell before they bring it back.

Off-Broadway is a much more appropriate location for a show like Rocky. I've seen better regional productions than the recent Broadway revival.

If you are that into it then you should try going to a midnight screening of the film with audience participation. It's a lot of fun. And NO...I don't know what the rush policy is or how early you need to get there for tickets.

I'd like to see a stage production of "Shock Treatment". And whatever happened with Ritz' plans to write / premiere "Rocky Horror: The Second Coming" in the West End? Terry Jones praised the script and everything

The Rocky Horror revival was doing negligible business even before 9/11, relying mostly on discounted tickets. As Rocky Horror has been a money loser twice on Broadway, I don't expect it to return anytime soon.

They'll be bringing "Rocky" back at the same time the "Lestat" revival comes to Broadway. re: Bring Rocky Horror back to broadway

Rocky Horror will eventually come back to broadway. And it probably won't fare much better than the last revival did or the original production. Rocky has a limited audience and its run potential is always going to be limited because the rocky fans who would love to go every night or every weekend can't afford the ticket prices.

Look at it this way, at least the revival gave us Raul.

When and in what theater was the first Broadway version? I don't recall it.

It was at the Belasco in the 70's.

the 70s at the belasco.. lasted 45 performances.

i thought the revival was a stricking, stunning, and suprising production with, for the most part, a stellar cast...

I LOVED the Revival. The Cast Recording kicks ass! But it's way too early for ROCKY HORROR to be back. Maybe for it's 50th Anniversary or something. I know that there was a production in the West End this past year. I swear British ROCKY HORROR fans eat it up more than Americans. I guess the British have a great appreciation for camp. Heh.

Yeah, the original Rocky Horror was at the Belasco, and it's the show for which the Belasco's interior was irrevocably destroyed - all for a one-month loser of a show. Another reason to hate Rocky Horror.

CanStage in Toronto is mounting a production March 07 as a "guaranteed" ucce$$ but I've heard rumours subscribers were not impressed. Leave it alone for now.

I LOVED the revival but like everyone has said. It's not coming back anytime soon.

Shock Treatment sucks.

It's not really a Broadway show I think. It needs a small theatre, cabaret seating, drinks served throughout. Besides, the film is such a theatrical experience, why pay $100 a ticket to see a pale imitation?

Les Mis played for 16 years, did Rocky even make 16 months?

Smaxie, what exactly did they remove from the theatre?

I saw the revival of ROCKY HORROR many, many times. I loved it every one of those times.

I would welcome that production back in a second, but I don't think its at all likely or possible financially.

The Rocky Horror revival was my first Broadway experience, so it will always have a very special place in my heart. It is an incredibly fun show, but only caters to a specific audience. So as much as I'd like for it to come back, it doesn't seem likely. Though I agree that it would do a lot better off-Broadway.
