Can someone explain the concept of cancellation tickets to me? I thought there are no refunds or exchanges for any broadway tickets. If you purchase from telecharge or ticketmaster, there is no refund or exchange.

How can people cancel their tickets? What is a cancellation line? Do all broadway shows have cancellation tickets?

When ticketmaster or telecharge says there are no tickets for a performance, does that mean the performance is sold out? Can I go up to the box office and see if there are any tickets available?

5 min before a show goes on all the ticket agencies sell back the best seats in the house to the theater. You pay top price but you get great seats!

I am trying to get tickets to Jersey Boys but telecharge says that there are no tickets available.

Does ticketmaster or telecharge sell all tickets in the theatre? Can I go up to the box office and get a ticket?

I always wondered about that. Great question, and thanks for the answer. Now I know.

Wait on the line. You'll get tickets. I've done it once. For "Lion King" got 4th row on the aisle.

When you say top price, how much do you have to pay? Can you get seats at regular orchestra price for a cancellation line?

Yes, they're of the regular box office value.

So for Jersey Boys, if telecharge says there are no premium seats available for a performance, then there is definetly no cancellation line for that performance. Is this a correct assumption?

Yep. You may, though, end up waiting (because for JB, you should get there early) for a bit and not getting anything. It's taking a chance.

They say no exchanges or refunds, but if you call and ask (especially the more popular shows), they will always exchange your ticket.

I did it once for FROZEN (which I never ended up seeing), and the woman at the BO told me I could exchange them once, and once only.

I called up telecharge when I wasn't able to use my Spamalot ticket, and she just gave me tickets for another performance.

Shows also hold back a number of tickets as house seats for last minute VIPs or the like. The hotter a show is the more seats they hold and can hold them longer than normal because there's usually a waiting demand in line at the box office for those seats. They know they won't go unsold if they hold on to them right up until the last minute.

If the ticket agencies sell back the premium tickets, and you happen to be in the cancellation line, can you buy them for the normal orchestra price? ($110) or would it have to be the premium ticket price?

That is going to be somewhat difficult.
From what I know Saturday and Sundays are the most difficult seats to get for a cancellation.
If you were looking to see the show during the week, there are always seats available at the box office the night of the show.
I say this from experience. I had just gone the evening of Oct. 11th I needed one more ticket for my sister and she just showed up at the box office 1/2 hour before performance and she was able to sit in right orchestra 4th row third seat in. She paid 111.00 for the ticket.

I know several people who have tried this on a Saturday & Sunday and they were not able to get a ticket. I was told by the person at the box office, Weekends are the most difficult tickets to get.

Good luck in your search!
