Sarah Saltzberg, one of the brilliant brains behind Spelling Bee, has created a new tv show called A/V Club, which is being screened at the New York TV Festival!!!!
Here is an article about the show, as well as a link to the trailer. It's free, so come check it out on Thurs, Sept 14 and Sat, Sept 16!!!
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee stars Sarah Saltzberg and Jesse Tyler Ferguson star in the new independent pilot "A/V Club," which will be screened as an official selection of the New York Television Festival on September 14th and 16th.
"AV Club" will be presented by Rebecca Feldman and Saltzberg, founding members of The Farm (the original production team behind The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). The pilot features Saltzberg, who portrays Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who originated the role of Leaf Coneybear and who stars fall in the CBS sitcom "The Class."
"Also featured are original characters from C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, the downtown play that later developed into the Tony award winning musical, and puts them in a new environment where they are equally passionate and competitive: 'the A/V Club,'" according to press notes.
A/V Club "is a subversive, irreverent comedy with heart. The middleschoolers, played by adults, are each gifted in their own way but misunderstood, seeking refuge in this underground organization. In the pilot episode, newly inducted A/V club member Beth Marguiles finds herself the deciding vote in the club’s next project – Logainne’s chicken patty expose or Tanya’s pop-culture fluff piece. Looking to make new friends, Beth commits to both projects, not understanding that she is violating one of the sacred tenets of the club. Is Beth destined to become an outcast among outcasts?"
"A/V Club" will screen as part of the New York Television Festival "Comedy 2" program on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2:45 pm and Saturday, Sept. 16 at 6:15 pm at The Director's Guild Theater (110 West 57th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues).
"I'm thinking about how if you took the W in
answer, and the H in ghost, and the extra A in aardvark, and the T in listen, you could keep saying WHAT but no one would ever hear you because the whole word would be silent."

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too."

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."
