Into the Woods Prologue! re: Broadway songs for little kids

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

When I was that age I really loved Sound of Music and Music Man - the songs were fun and many of them were easy for me to sing.

I also really liked much of Oliver. The first song I ever used for an audition was "Where is Love"

Now what would you say if today I started over? Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover And I'll pretend like everything is already alright And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

At that age I loved Sound of Music, Annie, and strangely My Fair Lady.

All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever."

Happiness from YAGMCB

"One day, is that enough for you, one day he went dumb, one day I went blind, one day we'll go deaf, one day we were born, one day we shall die, the same day, the same second, is that enough for you? They give birth astride of a grave, the light gleams an instant, then it's night once more." --Waiting for Godot

That is a songbook full of songs (well, okay, not full) that children originally sang on Broadway. If that link doesn't work, it's called Kids' Broadway Songbook.

Hope that helps!

Happy Talk from South Pacific

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Little People (the full version) -- Les Miz
Getting Tall -- Nine
