The Marriott Marquis' atrium is of the most popular destinations in New York City for people trying to commit suicide. I think it's because of the hotel's mid '80s decor - and maybe the carpet patterns.
You can only look at so much frosted glass, brass and mauve before wanting to do yourself in.
