I asked about this a while ago, but does anyone have videos they wouldn't mind up loading of shows at the Tonys. Any shows would fun to see, thanks a lot!
i wish the Hairspray performance was on there... it was sooooooooooo good and i wish i could see it again... i wanted to tape it, but forgot to get the tape ready
PBS has a series that has many musical performances at the Tonys. It's called Broadway's Lost Treasures. There are three volumes so far, but the most recent performence that is included is from the 2002 revival of Into The Woods. However, they are great to own and I highly recommend them.
"I hope they update LOST TREASURES further - more of the 90's and the present decade."
ummm.... but shows from the 90's and the present decade aren't LOST TREASURES. The point of the show is to preserve shows from the PAST.
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
-Into the Fire
Scarlet Pimpernel
Wouldn't we rather see performances by Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera, Jerry Orbach, Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Angela Lansbury, George Hearn, and so many more - over that damn WICKED Tony performance.
The point is definitely to perserve the classics. An occasional performance from the 90's is okay. But it's for the CLASSICS.
Something relatively moddern (Hairspray, Producers or a closed show from the recent past) will most likely be on Lost Treasures IV. (If they keep doing it.)
