I thought it was photoshopped. Her head doesn't even fit the wig. She seems to be trying so we'll see tomorrow night.

I really liked that article. She is a really hot penny on the last page.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
I'm not going to say I'm happy with the pictures, but I'm going to wait until I see her do the role before I pass judgement. Seeing it on Saturday (was going to see it earlier, but I have to see Arbender as Seaweed again, and I can't afford to go twice in one week :P *cough*likeIdidthatonetime*cough* I mean, what?)
They might switch the wigs around by opening night, I'm not too worried about still photos. I think she'll look cute live and in color (and motion). She's a really pretty girl so it's hard to make her look dorky so I'm pretty impressed because she's definitely dorky Penny in the first pictures. The respect the crew and cast have for her and the respect she has for what she is doing is what shone through in that article. I thought it was a great, long article detailing what kind of work goes into a show such as Hairspray. I got a kick out of her harmonica problems. I think over the course of three months she'll carve out her own niche as Penny, even if she can't match Tracy Miller in the hearts of many.
BTW, I believe Diana is Italian, French and Native American -by way of Atlanta, Georgia. ; ) Updated On: 2/6/06 at 10:30 PM
ew....that's all I have to say about the short wig. I hope that's not what people say about her performance but I just am not sure if she's right for the role. Tomorrow is her first performance, right? If she's any good I may rush while in NYC in March...
I think that this is a trial one, her real wig will be better fitted.

that's definitely not the one they'll be using, or else they're just dumb. The entire 60's vibe was big hair, it would only seem natural to continue that.
I remember seeing a rather odd looking advertisement when Christi Carlson-Romano was Belle in Beauty and the Beast. It was her in the blue costume, but with short blonde curly hair. I wish I still had the picture with me, but sadly I have misplaced it. In short, it looked hideous, but for the performances they kept the traditional brown hair--thank god!
What I'm MORE curious about is how she acts the part.
If anyone read the story, it explains that they just stuck a wig on her head to check it out... This is a feature about the rehearsal process and this wig was part of it. I think that is basically it. No point is judging her based on it. I think she comes off well in the rest of the story.
