Lord of the Rings First Preview Now Set for February 4 in Toronto

January 30, 2006 - by BWW News Desk
The first preview performance of the stage adaptation of THE LORD OF THE RINGS will now take place on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. This will be two days later than originally announced.

“After four years of planning we are so close to delivering, to its first audience, a show we will all be extremely proud of,” producer Kevin Wallace explains. “We had every expectation of putting this together in 17 weeks of rehearsal, including five full weeks of on-stage rehearsals. However, the process is going to take an additional 48 hours, and regrettably that means the first two scheduled preview performances will be moved and the first performance will now be on Saturday February 4th.”

Although the first two originally scheduled performances will not take place, the schedule for all other performances will be unaffected, except for an additional performance on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 7:00 PM. The gala opening night will take place on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 6:30 PM.

For Ticket-holders of February 2nd and 3rd:

The performance of Thursday, February 2nd has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 7:00 PM. February 2nd patrons can use their original tickets on the new date. If they cannot make that date, they can contact TicketKing at 416-872-1212 or 1-800-461-3333 to rebook by Friday, February 17th.

Ticket-holders to the Friday, February 3rd performance will be offered comparable seats to any other available performance. Patrons should contact TicketKing at 416-872-1212 or 1-800-461-3333 to make the ticket exchange.

I had a ticket for Thursday night too, and I'm busy on March 2nd. I'm not a happy hobbit.

Not surprised this was pushed back. Wicked was pushed back in San Francisco, Broadway, and Toronto due to technical difficulties (and yes, I consider Steph being injured due to wires "technical").
I really want to see this. More because I know two cast members - inlcuding Evan Buluing who is a brilliant actor.

I am possibly going to see this show, so I'm bummed because I wanted to heard reviews about it. I think I'm going in May, so it isnt a huge deal, but I want to know if its all that its cracked up to be.
