Any word on the cast or cities for a touring production of Brooklyn? I looked through the threads and couldn't find anything about it.

I go to the Brooklyn website fairly often and I haven't seen anything about the tour. It's weird cuz they announced the tour like 7 months ago!

Ah, Brooklyn.

Not all that great, but still vastly underrated.

I really liked Brooklyn. I excited to see the tour. It does seem like they announced the tour quite a while ago, and there's been no updates since. There aren't many cities scheduled yet, either. Hmm...

Pillowpants. 'Nuff said.

People are too hard on BKLYN. It's not amazing by any means, but it's also not a complete disaster.

Where on earth are they gonna find someone who can belt as high as Eden?

"Where on earth are they gonna find someone who can belt as high as Eden?"

It was announced today on the Brooklyn website that Diana DeGarmo and Melba Moore are starring in the touring production. Diana proved she can belt it out playing "Maria" in WSS so this might be a good fit for her. I'm a little concerned about her doing Hairspray and Brooklyn back to back but she's proven herself pretty good under pressure. Melba Moore sounds like a good choice too.

MELBA MOORE?

HFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO WAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would think she'd be a little too old, but if anyone has EVER heard the Purlie cast recording, they'd be wise to join me in saying that I love me some Melba Moore.

It's not actually coming here (Dallas) twice. It was originally booked for the earlier date but was rescheduled for the later date.

I think Raven is one of the most moving songs ever written. I also agree that this show was underrated, its one of those ones that everyone loves to hate, but most people haven't actually even seen it, kinda like In My Life, which also wasnt as bad as everyone said.

So is Diana playing Brooklyn?

(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

So true

If Melba Moore is in this then "Pairadice" must be OLD Piradice. Maybe she is the old "guy" who tells the story?

You're right. It was even worse. Half the cats looked embarassed to be up there, and I don't blame them. And Brooklyn was just as bad, with one of the dumbets plots ever.

To hell with age!!! If Melba Moore is Paradice she will sing the absolute crap out of it. God, I would love to see it!!! Once again ageism rasies it's ugly head. Who the hell cares as long as she still sings well.

Just my opinion, I may be wrong.
