Before I saw the show, I was thinking of seeing the movie, which I finally did. I was very impressed only because it was not overdone on screen. Lane and Broderick have such ease, which helped the movie a great deal. Did anybody see it the the Orpheum today? I noticed it was not quite sold out as many have said on the boards. Although, it will eventually. I mostly aggred with the reviews, but I did not agree with not making the remake. In fact, despite the show itself, I found myself enjoying the movie as much as the live performace.
After that, I headed for Times Square to The Producers (Row BB!). The show was in pretty good shape. Although, I believe that some of the leads tried to play for laughs to much. John Tracy Egan (hope I got that right) was brilliant as Max. Although, I did not notice to much of his talents when it came to the vocals. Hunter Foster gave, what I would call, an ok performance. Believe me, I respect actors for their recreation of roles, but it seems like he could have done more with his character.Angie Schworer di a great job with Ulla. Her charm and talent helped her get the role down. The rest of the cast, especially Gary Beach, was far out from funny. To me, Gary is the jem of this show. Otherwise, if you feel like going to see this live, I would highly reccomend it. By the way, they do Fanz title song in the same key as the movie when they cast for Hitler.
