I'm sure we'll never hear more than that -- it was doing percentages in the 70's in its last few months. I guess that wasn't high enough for Disney.
Not that its reviews were stellar, but audiences loved it -- for the most part -- and it wasn't a disastrous failure. It was going fairly strong. Maybe they just wanted to go out with a bang, before it did start dropping really low.
It made back its investment and then some. 4 1/2 years isn't too shabby. I wouldn't call its closing "so soon."
That being said, the show was very expensive to run, because of its large physical production. It wasn't bringing the money Disney wanted it to anymore.
