The show was changed and obviously parred down from the original script. Please remember that this was staged as a concert for Encores. Yes, the orchestra has always been onstage (in the revival).... no I've never thought Michelle looked like Debra Messing, but how did you like her. DeJean is a sweetheart and one hell of a talent.

And yes, the cast always interacts with the orchestra as well as the audience. I've always said the closer you are for Chicago, the better, and that's why.
