Leapin' Lizards! I've never seen a more bored audience. The man next to me, visibly bored through act 1, bluntly told his wife during intermission "don't wake me." The lady across from me on the aisle was asleep, too. There were a few empty rows, but since everyone's a subscriber, it's not about to close soon.

George Grizzard is giving a great performance, even though he sounds drunk (slurring words) for the bulk of act 1. Francis Sternhagen is barely audible, especially when there's an airplane sound effect overhead. Frederick Weller and Elizabeth Marvel steal the show. During their final speech, you could hear a pin drop.

Great set (I can't imagine how hard it is to work on), lighting (feels like a real day at the beach), and costumes (Elphaba's not the only green thing on Broadway anymore).

I loved how the beach extended beyond the procenium and into the first row. The seats blended in with the curtain. I don't even remember the color (of the seats) being so taupe when I saw The Pillowman.

Would I recommend it? Maybe, for an Albee-fanatic. The $20 student-ticket price was worth it.

Too bad. I adored this production, and have been shilling it to everybody.
My rave review of "Seascape"

BTW, the curtain from The Pillowman was different. It was a brownish-black and said THE PILLOWMAN.

Mef or Yankee, could you guys go more depth into the idea of the set extending to the audience? Like, they changed the first row of seats to match the set?

The beach covers the proscenium. There's a sandy colored fabric that covers the stage.
