In fact, I love HAIRSPRAY as a whole. Im listening to YOU CANT STOP THE BEAT right now and I just realized how much I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE this song. Anyone with me?
Love that song. It makes me happy. I could listen to it over and over.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
I love that the show ends with this song, FABULOUS finale! (Was very annoyed when, on the Tony broadcast, the mikes got screwed up and you couldn't hear Seaweed's part with Penny )
Thank you Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman!
I'm all for spreading the HAIRSPRAY love!

Joe Flanigan, Stargate Atlantis: When a fan asked me for help with his grammar. I'm available.
I've never seen it, but I have the OBCR and it's one of my favorite songs. It seems like such a high engery finale and it's one of those songs that you just can't get out of your head.
I'll be seeing the Hairspray tour next month, so I'm very much looking forward to it.
"You drank a charm to kill John Proctor's wife! You drank a charm to kill Goody Proctor!" - Betty Parris to Abigail Williams in Arthur Miller's The Crucible
Enjoy the tour, James, if you enjoy the OBCR, you'll have a blast! "You Can't Stop the Beat" is truly high energy, a great way to leave the theatre humming THAT tune

Wow Zeppie, so shocked to see that you responded to this thread and to what you wrote. :-P
Have fun tomorrow!
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
It is one of my favorite new musicals. I go one step further. Do any of you own the Harvey alarm clock thing for Broadwaycares? I bought it two years ago and it is faboo. Waking up to Harvey is hilarious. I used to use it on my cell phone until people believed they were calling Harvey. It was really funny! I adore Hairspray, I have seen it with Harvey, Vilanch and I need to see John Pinette.
This is my favorite song. It can make me happy no matter what. But I agree about the harmonies that they have now in the show (during Edna's part) on the CD. I find myself singing the no no nos.
Hairspray's such an amazing show. Can't wait to see the tour December 3rd!
Definitely the first exposure I had to the show from the Tony's and I absolutely loved it. I remember calling my friend when it was over and we gushed over it forever. So I went on a CD hunt the next day
"Who says you can't bend over backwards and eat bugs if you want to? I guess the bugs would probably say you can't do that that, but assuming that they are willing and consenting bugs, then there's no problem. Let's wig out eating bugs."

the best part is the hidden track after it on the OBCR. Blood on the Pavement is another fave of mine. So funny but "cute" sounding. I think Marc, Scott's and John Waters humor really shine in that little jingle.
