okay so i know a bunch of people who are planning on dressing up on november 11th/24th when the movie comes out. I was wondering if anybody here was planning on doing that and what character your going to dress up as and how ur doing it =).
I mightttt do it if I see it on November 11th in NYC, cause i figure there will be tons of RENT freakks there who will appreciate it/be dressed up as well.
I'm doing that with some friends - I'll probably go as Mimi or Maureen...or the Bag Lady since it will be freezing. :) Me and my frinds are flying from Cali to see the movie so we're going all out.
I'm planning on just wearing my "Mark" scarf! Okay. So it's not really a "Mark" but it's a black and white striped rugby scarf and it's pretty darn close!
I'm going to try to wrangle together a group here in LA to dress up with me and if I can manage that, I might go as Mimi, Maureen or maybe just for kicks, a female version of Mark or Roger. :-P
I wanted to get something that an "ex"-junkie like him would really appreciate and cherish....it's a brick of heroin shaped like a heart.

Im deffinally doing it my best friend and I are going as Mimi and Maureen and my one friend might go as Mark and my other one as the drug dealer. I CANT WAIT HAHA!
"You wanna prowl? Be my night owl, well take my hand were gonna howlll...OUT TONIGHT!"-Daphne Rubin Vega the BEST Mimi ever!
I don't think I can pull off Mimi or Maureen... so if anything, I think I shall be the female Mark... Mark-ette?
erinrebecca- My friends "dressed up" for Star Wars... by dressed up I do mean they had light sabers. Also, when we went to go see Van Helsing (I will see anything with Hugh Jackman!) my friend had a t-shirt that said "Van Helsing Rocks" or something like that.
I don't know what the appeal is exactly but it is fun...
Man, dressing up sounds like fun but I'm pretty sure that I would be the only one dressed up around here...hhmmm, maybe I can wrangle someone to go dress up w/ me.....*ponders* Either was I CAN'T WAIT for this movie!

I was going to try and pull a female Roger by wearing the leather jacket and plaid pants, but those are no longer in the movie...this is going to take alot of thought...
cudramacat, I'll be the only one "dressed up" around here too but I don't care. JKfan, I say go for the female Roger in plaid pants. If I have the courage to be a female Mark, you can be Roger.
life_so_far - from what i know and i'm pretty darn sure there are NO plaid pants!...i was heart broken when i found out!But i don't care, i'm wearing mine anyways!
I found a coat at Goodwill a couple weeks ago (I was shopping for a show costume, I swear!) that looked very much like the one Anthony wore during the "Seasons..." part of the trailer, so while I couldn't get it then, we kind of hid it behind some other coats till I could get it. I was going to get that, find a scarf (probably not a "Mark scarf" but a scarfs a scarf, even for Rent) and punch out some sunglasses (I don't wear glasses) and go as Mark (check the av).
Okay now, bed. I've got an audition tomorrow morning and an opening night tomorrow night!

Wax Lion thinks it fascinating that people are really going to dress out like RENT characters a la film series such as Harry Potter, Star Wars and Star Trek. The sweaters and pants and jackets he can see, but are young girls (the under 17 vibe) really going to dress up in similar clothing as the Mimi? It's not the most tasteful of apparel to Wax Lion's way of thinking. No bother, though...he's already got his Mark costume.
