Thank you!

You really should come here and see it. If you go here, and you don't see it, or you forget to wait at the stage door to thank the kids for sharing their musical genius, then you will definitely have lost something extraordinary.

Also, the idea is that the show will open in several cities around the world within the next few years or so (not just in English, so there goes the dialect...), but you will be able to tell your friends that you actully saw the original cast, shook hands with Liam or George or James, or just got their autographs, if that is your venue... Well, I'm getting more attached to this! I really want to see Billy Elliot, but that won't be likely as of now. I would love to see Liam as Billy. He looks cute and amazing. That "Electricity" video was awesome! re: Billy Elliot The Musical The only hope if if there's a cast recording that's availble for me.

This is fun!

Well, he is kind of cute. re: Billy Elliot The Musical He's definitely amazing. More amazing than his former classmates thought, or even his brothers and parents. From day one I thought this kid has something, a freshness and a vulnerability. Yet, he is extremely strong and has a great stamina.

The Electricity video is good, although, it doesn't convey the full extent of what Liam can really do. Then again, I guess that wasn't the point. Isaac (dancing the part of older Billy) is good too. He interacts very well with the lads.

Tell us what you know of a cast recording... And do you work on Billy? What's your job?

Last I heard was that two of the billys and two of the michaels were staying on until December. Liam, George, Brad and Ryan I think it was. Could just be a useless rumour though. Any more photos westendpro?

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

The cast list is not yet public, so it is only rumours. The thing about the Academy in Leeds is that they groom young dancers who possibly could fill the required parts in the UK production.

Cast recording? What parts will be used? You will just have to wait and see! re: Billy Elliot The Musical

Here's a question for you: What would you like to see as front? The ordinary Billy Elliot logo or the pop art logo?

Also, if you live somewhere near New York, why not start looking around to see if there are boys, (say, 9-12) in your vincinity who could possibly possess the ability to play an american Billy or Michael.

Maybe you know someone who is a helluva tap dancer? Someone who would not be afraid to take on a very challenging part? Maybe he could be an american Michael?

The thing about Billy is that the boy playing that part must be able to do everything, but he must not have studied dancing (although everything - drama, dancing, whatever - might help) and noone must prepare anything for the auditions. Both aspiring Billies and Michaels will be taught everything the casting people need to see.

What the casting directors want to find, when it comes to the part of Billy, is a boy who can quickly learn everything from ballet to street, singing and acting, a lad with extreme stamina and concentration.

When it comes to Michael, they want to find a boy with great charisma who can upstage Billy. They need someone who can tap like a maniac. He also need to sing and act.

Now, don't get me wrong. No dates are set, nothing, but you would do well to keep your eyes open, inspire parents, or even the kids themselves that the possibility might fall into their lap shortly. Updated On: 7/29/05 at 06:40 PM

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

When the show opened, it had two big names, and one of them was Tim Healy as Billy's dad, simply credited as 'Dad'. Now, if you are somewhat like me, you probably didn't have a clue who that was. So, this is just to fill you up on some vital stats. Tim was born in 1952 and married Denise Welch in 1988. He is a father of two sons, and has an extensive career behind him, stretching across TV, motion pictures, and the theatre, going as far back as the 1970s. His portrayal of the butch father figure who has lost his beloved wife to cancer and now sees his own future, and the future of his two sons, being crushed when the mines are shutting down, and the subsequent journey he does to the point where he understand that he can give one of his sons a future if he can just manage to open up his mind, is surely a credit to him. But, I think he has understood that, even though his name is big on the billboards, he does not play the lead.

"He could be a star for all we know
We don't know how far he could go"

"He could go and he could shine
not just stay here counting time
Son, we've got the chance to let him live
Yes, we've got the chance to let him live"

Thank you for that excellent link. You can even hear a small excerpt of Liam singing Electricity. Liam and Ryan is such a funny couple, and do the most hilarious faces...

True, James is quite tall now (quite unexpected when he first auditioned), but he does in a way bring a teenage angst to his interpretation. In real life he would never be mistaken for an 11-yo boy, which is the age Billy is according to the script, but a few minutes into his show you forget all about that and enjoy a very good modern dancer. Keep a spot for him somewhere in the pop music world for when he comes to the end of his Billy Elliot run.

Rumour is that Stephen has a new project coming up with Jamie Bell, the original Billy. Jamie is happy, by the way, that the boys are doing such a good job taking over the part of Billy. That helps him move from being a gifted child actor to an adult actor. By the way, you will see him in the upcoming film King Kong by Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame.

Just a question. On the first page theres a picture that's titled "Here's the ballet class." Is the girl in front of billy wearing pointe shoes? Is she Debbie? Or is she just a chorus girl? Thanks!

When I saw the musical, I do remember seeing a couple of the girls wearing pointe shoes, as aposed to the normal ballet shoes
I did remember thinking that that was a bit odd, as they didn't do any pointe work as far as i can remember...

PoserPresident, you are correct, both the girl infront of Billy and the girl behind Billy in that picture are wearing pointe shoes. Neither one of them is Debbie, they are both ballet girls who do a short pointework section in the number "Shine". There are also another 2 girls who do a short tap section in the number, one of which is Debbie. Hope that helps.

Here are some scary pictures. At least, that's what the boys thought. Scary but fun. So, here we go:

It was a cold and rainy morning. At 9 am people start qeueing up.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

At 10, the audition started with some icebreaking activities and acting.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

At 10:15 the dancing class started and the boys did some funk to Beyonce's "Crazy In Love"

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

10:30 and it's shoes off. Time for ballet.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

And, yes, this is the boys doing, that's it, ballet at 10:35.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

At 10:45 they practiced spinning.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

At 10:50 the boys showed what they could do when it was time for freestyle.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

It's 11 o'clock and Jessica Ronane (children's casting) is delivering the first message of doom. Who made it to the next step - singing?

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

At 11:10 it's time for singing. First in group

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

and then, at 11:20, solo.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

11:30 - A nervous applause for everyone.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

And then the boys wait to hear who will continue to the next stage.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

In case you're wondering - this auditon was in London.

It's true that some of the girls do have pointe shoes because of some things they do, pointe work in "Shine" is among them, as stated above. This I did not know, but it was kindly explained to me. Well, you live and learn.

re: Billy Elliot The Musical

To the right is Ashley Luke Lloyd (playing Michael in Billy Elliot) when he played Poor Baby in Whistle Down the Wind 2003. The show did not get raving reviews, but Ashley was the exception. He did a very good Poor Baby, and enjoyed it very much. He was born on the 6th of July, 1991 to Lynn and Richie LLoyd. He has a brother (Richard Leonard) and sister (Shelby Louise).
